Advertisement Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Scanning: Tiff v. Raw. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Agent M10 Posted January 21, 2008 Author Share #22 Posted January 21, 2008 Black and white negatives - the Tiffs are fine.
imported_peter_m Posted January 21, 2008 Share #23 Posted January 21, 2008 My tiff/raw files were scanned at the same time. Coolscan V If you scan with ice turned off Raw/DNG and the tiff should be the same. With ice on the Raw/DNG will also record the infrared channel and that would be the extra size in the Raw/DNG. Agent M10 Posted January 22, 2008 Author Share #24 Posted January 22, 2008 We're using Vuescan and its "ICE" was off. The Tiffs came out fine, but the DNG came out as negatives in Adobe Lightroom.
imported_peter_m Posted January 22, 2008 Share #25 Posted January 22, 2008 That is how it is supposed to be, Raw/Tiff = sensor capture. If negative film it shows the negative. The tiff file is converted within ViewSan to the positive. Peter
MPerson Posted August 31, 2008 Share #26 Posted August 31, 2008 Andy (or anyone else for that matter), we just did our first batch of scanning Tiff and Raw with Vuescan. In Adobe Lightroom, the raw files are coming up as negatives (we used the convert to dng feature). Got any tips? Thanks. Too late now but for future searchers and completeness, this will save the DNG as positives: Welcome, dear visitor!
