It appears to pick up body parts (when set to Body/Face/Eye - I haven't tried Face/Eye)

Another improvement is that it now gives greater preference to a more distant face rather than a closer back-of-the-head - something I have found an irritation. It remains to be seen whether it is better at picking up black and brown faces equally with caucasian/east Asian.

Switching profiles requires at least  four button presses! Then you need to adjust the exposure compensation, since you've memorized a neutral value in the profile, which will replace the current one when you switch profiles. So many unnecessary steps, wasting precious time. All of this can be easily avoided, which is exactly what other manufacturers do by implementing a simple tracking strategy: if there's a person near the focus square, recognize and follow them; if there's no person, lock onto the subject and stick to it.

Leon, please relay to Leica that they have to immediately either disable the battery warning or make it appear no more than once a day.  Make it configurable in Settings.  This update renders cameras unusable for those who have previous batteries and have the full right to use those unhindered.

They need to add a Snooze icon to the pop-up screen, like on an alarm clock😂

At least once I set "AF size" to a button, I press the button and change the size by scrolling the thumbwheel on my Q3 28.
I also hate to use the touch screen function to change something like this.

Hmmh, 4 buttons ? With my Q3: 2 simple intuitive clicks using profile settings. No need to enter the menu. Up to you 😉

The first click opens the profile menu, the second click skips the standard profile, the third click skips the main profile, and the fourth click confirms. Then, exposure correction.

I have 1st Click Fn1 User Profile then 2nd Click e.g. Profile 2. Thats it. Exposure correction if needed always with thumb Wheel (also if no change in Profiles)

Just how many threads do people need related to FW 4.0? It's getting really tedious reading through them all.

Hey, I can only speak for the q3 28.

its good > it works > is it outstanding > no 

my keeper rate for difficult situations is good. > 1/4 second night shoot cars and people/street .

Even after resetting my Q43 and redoing my Profiles I'm still getting the odd spinning ball of Leica when trying to switch between my own Profiles.  Only happened a couple times, but still... snnoying.

One of the things that used to bug me about my Q43's AF when I first got it was that it would show the green box locked on an object or face making me thing the AF was dead on.  But then I would get home and see the focus was actually a little before or behind where I thought it was still.  So far in the new firmware this seems to be happening a lot less frequently for me.  Not only does the focus seem to acquire faster, but it actually hits the focal plane I wanted.

All of my testing was done on my dog and wife so far though, so YMMV.

this is what I’ve been doing for the last day, except I’ve found I can make zone one step smaller and it works best for me. ps, you can also use the thumb wheel to change zone size once you’ve selected it.

I had then too when I only allowed Info Profile 1.I fixed it by allowing (switch-on) Info Profile 2 - full screen/no information displayed. Now 'toggle info levels works' for me.

If there are no people in frame camera defaults to multi-field.

Whatever firmware came out, however good it was, there would still be the same posts from those who don't read the manual, those who wanted something completely different, those who think something has changed from the previous version but hasn't, and those who just screw up the updating instructions. Plus all those who just want to talk about it.

The hard part is picking out the posts that are about genuine bugs.

I think this firmware is a great improvement; there are a few glitches, but nothing that would remotely make me want to go back, and a lot that makes my photography better easier.
