nitroplait Posted Friday at 01:37 PM Share #1 Posted Friday at 01:37 PM Advertisement (gone after registration) What was the intended benefit of this release-button-extender? - and does it have a product code/name? I couldn't find it on the Leica Wiki M accessory list. It seemingly doesn't improve ergonomics - like the Nikon AR-1 does on a Nikon F, where it lifts the release button above the film advance for easier access and provide a larger contact surface for your finger. The Leitz version actually reduces the finger contact area and doesn't provide a softer release feel like the Nikon AR-1 does. This accessory does not fit a Barnack Leica (where it would have made more sense IMO). Welcome, dear visitor! So you would buy this thing in order to use your Barnack cable-release on your M (instead of buying a new cable release). No wonder it is rare 😆 Thanks for the link. I guess it is Australian $280, but still! I see it advertised for €200 in Europe!
250swb Posted Friday at 02:55 PM Share #4 Posted Friday at 02:55 PM The Nikon AR-1 is commonly referred to as a soft release adapter, but many believe it was originally to bring the finger nearer to the shutter speed dial when using a Photomic head. I suspect the Leica adapter does something similar because height isn't necessary for a soft release, only area (which this doesn't have). So is there something like a Visoflex that it would work alongside?
sandro Posted Friday at 04:28 PM Share #5 Posted Friday at 04:28 PM No it would be too high for the releas arm of the Visoflex. In fact it would make use of the Visoflex as good as impossible. I never tried it though. Lex
scattered-light Posted Friday at 04:36 PM Share #6 Posted Friday at 04:36 PM (edited) That's OZTNO, it allows the APDOO self timer to run on a M2. If a user has a nice complicated close focus or scientific setup for Leica screw mount cameras with double cable release (think early reflex housings, bellows ....), the adapter allows to re-use this setup with a M Leica (of course a M-LTM adapter will be needed as well). From my point of view, it has never been intended as a "soft release". Best regards, Peter. Edited Friday at 04:37 PM by scattered-light 1

You could fix one release cable to the M camera with the OZTNO and the other on the Visoflex body, where you could fix it directly the same way as with a screwmount Leica. Jerry Attrik Posted Friday at 07:55 PM Share #9 Posted Friday at 07:55 PM It also allows the use of the early mechanical flash synchronising attachment on the shutter speed dial without huge human fingers fouling the mechanism. (just a thought)😥
willeica Posted Friday at 11:39 PM Share #10 Posted Friday at 11:39 PM Yes, this is the OZTNO for using screw mount cables on M cameras. I have an example of the even more weird sounding OZXVO ( has anyone tried pronouncing these 🤫 ?) link, which is for attaching a pneumatic cable to a Visoflex I on a screw mount camera. Mine came on a IIIc without a Visoflex I, installed as shown below. I would love to see it with the pneumatic link on a Visoflex I. Has anyone got a picture of that? Welcome, dear visitor!
