Hi guys,

I’ve been thinking about picking up the M11-P Safari but not to actually use it.
My plan would be to just keep it on the shelf, untouched, and see how the value develops over the next 10 years.

Do you think that’s a smart move?
I mean… given how some Leica special editions appreciate, it feels almost irresponsible to actually take it out and shoot with it.

Curious what you think.

Best,

It will most likely not appreciate in price, it's not limited edition. It will probably yield slightly higher price than a plain M11-P, as is the case with M10-P Safari/Reporter/etc.

Don't buy it to invest, buy it to use.

No - it will have depreciated considerably by then as the service period will be ending. This is a camera to use and enjoy.

Best,

If you have spare cash there are lots of inanimate objects you can buy and just look at.  The purpose of buying a camera is to make photographs.  If you need investment advice there are better places to go to than a photo forum.
