No offense, but what is the point of photographing a painting in color in black and white?

Maybe to show image quality and low light capability?

You could say the same about any photograph because reality is not monochromatic, but some representations of reality look better in black and white.  Just my opinion 🙂

I hear you, but in this particular case, the photograph of a painting, the artist has already decided how he sees the world, namely in color.

That painting is in a relatively dark corner of my home. I often use it to check the quality of high ISO images of various cameras. I like how the monochrome sensors work and I liked the results of the B&W conversion.

But, thank you for C&C.

not enough details in the painting to really say anything and at that iso my Q2M would probably give almost the same results. Interesting to be able to se or work with original DNG files above iso 50,000

The point of an image thread is not to run comparisons with other cameras.

Don't they miss it at all at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam? 😆

Zitat

But, thank you for C&C.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge of internet lingo, but what does C&C stand for?

My painting is a replica of Rijksmuseum painting, signed 1657, while Rijksmuseum's painting is from 1656.

Christie's page has a full discussion of the variants.

C&C stands for critiques and comments. It is often used when sharing images online, e.g., "C&C is welcome."

Thank for posting this.  When we photograph people they are in a world we see in color, yet we produce Black and White photos from that.  At first glance I thought it was a photograph of a live person.  It’s an amazing representation in Black and White and it certainly demonstrates what a great lens the 28mm Summilux is.  The quality of the file is excellent!

Hi,

tested the camera today.

Feels great, great look of the images.

Menu takes some inspection but yes it's now up to down and in the previous versions it was left to right.

Leicons > yes they will stay and we will all get used to them. In 2 years no one will remember the old icons and you will feel

special to remember the the good old times.

Lovely images in your usual inimitable style, @Pelu2010

I would love to give the Q3M a try. I helped Leica UK with the development of the Beta UI in my own small way over the last year. Least they could do is send me one to play with for a month! 😬
