Switching to EV1 from Rangefinder not so easy

I don’t know if this is the right thread for this comment, but… I’ve set up my Fuji X-E5 with a Leica lens converter. So I can now, in effect, experience a Leica M-EV1 albeit with a 40 megapixel sensor with Fuji colour science. I don’t get automatic zoom, but I have set up the joystick press to zoom in/out. It’s easier to focus (manual focus with no focus peaking) than I had figured it would be.

I went back and forth as well.

I really like the Viso2, especially the tilt function. Most of the time I'm still using the rangefinder to focus regardless of lens / aperture. I love the M and get a lot of joy out of micro-composition using the visoflex, and I love using vintage lenses with the evf so the EV-1 should have been the perfect camera for me, but without a fast and reliable way to focus it's a bit of a non-starter for my particular use-cases... I was really hoping for an innovative solution from Leica there.

Other than the size/weight factor, the SL2 covers my needs when I want a good EVF. A financial decision could be made where the M11 + SL2 were both sold to get the EV-1 but I feel that would be a sideways (or even backwards) step in terms of the features I enjoy using. Losing the ISO dial is a real bummer for me as well, I like where it is on the M11 but I guess mapping ISO to the thumb-wheel would suffice.

As a fellow visoflex junkie I'll be interested to hear your feedback on the EV-1 if you decide to get one.

Understand you well. I have the SL3 and SL3S both of which handle M lenses well at the expense of size, but the IBIS to me makes a huge difference. 

The ideal EV1 would have IBIS and 120 readout speed. That said it can be a small travel kit with smallish Leica or Voigtlander lenses of E39 filter size.

Must decide as my purchase window will close this/next week from favored dealer.

What do you mean by 120 readout speed? Do you mean 120 EVF refresh rate?

I don't disagree, but to make that happen the body would have to be as thick as the M (Typ 240).  We know how that went.

Leica said that the body can maintain the thickness with IBIS if they get rid of the mechanical shutter (e.g., by using a stacked sensor).

how did that go? i own an M262 and have never been tempted to "upgrade" but curious to know what you mean?
