Kiwimac Posted 3 hours ago Share #1 Posted 3 hours ago Advertisement (gone after registration) Here in NZ, every variant of the M11 other than the EV1 is now being sold with a bonus $1200 camera bag. Even the Safari. When this happens, it’s usually an indication that the distributor has been given the nod about the release of the next best thing and is seeking to sell down stock. I’ve no idea if that’s the case but I recall they did something similar with the M10 series.

wizard Posted 3 hours ago Share #2 Posted 3 hours ago vor 10 Minuten schrieb Kiwimac: is now being sold with a bonus $1200 camera bag Wow, how can a camera bag be $1200? Most likely, the actual costs for the seller will be significantly lower, so in effect they are not giving you that much of a discount, unless of course you "must" have that very camera bag. Personally, I do not think the M12 is ante portas. They have just released the EV1, which is fully based on M11 technology, so I expect an M12 to be at least two years away from now. LocalHero1953 Posted 2 hours ago Share #9 Posted 2 hours ago M8-M9-M240 were on a 3 year cycle. M240-M10-M11 have been on a 5 year cycle. M12 is thus most likely in 2027.

LocalHero1953 Posted 57 minutes ago Share #11 Posted 57 minutes ago There were major changes in wider industry technology between M8, M9 and M240 that Leica evolved rapidly to keep up with (APSC to full frame sensors, then CCD to CMOS with liveview). The tech didn't change so quickly thereafter, so Leica were at less risk of being left behind if they launched new models more slowly. OTOH the M10-R, with a high res sensor, arrived only 3 years after the M10 - that could be seen as a significant new model but without the number change. Who will swear that Leica wouldn't issue a M11 with significant changes now, almost 4 years after launch? There have been strong hints about major upgrades to the rangefinder. They could add video (again). M11 with IBIS? Let speculation thrive!
