summicron75 Posted August 25 Share #1 Posted August 25 Advertisement (gone after registration) El Corte Inglés here in Spain has an M10-R and P brand new in stock. I’ve walked in and looked at them with longing for months but couldn’t justify paying list price. Today they called and said the R has been discounted by over 30%. After writing off the tax it came to 4.500€. Full Leica warranty, never used, not an ex demo. Couldn’t believe my luck. After having tremendous problems with the M11 (freezes, upside down images, charging issues, images not saved, files corrupted, just a litany of problems with all variants) I bought it without hesitation. I cannot tell you how happy this has made me. I know you guys will understand. Welcome, dear visitor! She kept seeing me staring at them every couple of weeks and took my number in case they lowered the prices. And then remembered to call me! bernstein1234 Posted August 30 Share #10 Posted August 30 Congrats! I got a used like-new M10R Black Paint recently and am enamoured with the output!
GFW2-SCUSA Posted September 4 Share #11 Posted September 4 You have a wonderful camera which will serve you very well. I think my M10 R shall be the last M I will buy. I can not find any faults with it; it does all I want from a Leica camera which I have been using for 60 years. You should buy your dealer a fine lunch for telling you about it! TomB_tx Posted September 20 Share #13 Posted September 20 Indeed a good price! I bought a nice used one a few months ago a bit over $5K USD. Wanted silver chrome, but settled for black chrome.

Now just waiting for camera to arrive... Well, finally got the camera today. I might justify the little bit steep price, it came with 2 batteries, RRS baseplate with grip, and seem to be shot bit over 600 pics. Not new but "almost new"
chris_tribble Posted October 7 Share #16 Posted October 7 Congratulations - like many others, I think the M10-R may be the last M I need. As it is the Q3 43 has taken over as my go-to camera with a couple of SL2s + the two big zooms (24-90/90-200) as the kit that goes out on assignments. However, I still have modern 28/35 M summicrons + a very nice VC APO-Skopar 90mm f2.8 for the days when I want to work in a slow and measured way 🙂

I get both sides. A modern mirrorless with AF, like the SL2, yields more keepers for me, esp >50mm, and as such where certain jobs will require that I will use it. This is partly because of the challenge of focusing longer lenses esp wide open on an RF, but also because I only feel like that sort of fast and loose ethos works okay with wider lenses and to an extent a 50mm. Something about the flatter nature of the telephoto lens demands a more precise composition for me. That said, the difference isn't that great at at 50mm and at 35mm it's a wash or I may even be better with an M. Even if I know I won't get as many keepers on a job, I will use an M every opportunity I can and keep the SL2 for the sort of only really necessary sort of thing. Over time I've essentially eliminated long lens work from my repertoire because I just don't like using them and don't like how they see the world for the most part, so I'm basically not asked to use them anymore either. Win win. But, if I need to cover my bases and get some medium/close options on a portrait shoot - most common sort of scenario - my 90mm M lens even goes on the SL2 for the reasons of precision mentioned above. More than anything, the M10-R has blown me away. I reach for it 90% of the time. It sounds odd but there was and remains an immediate emotional bond with it. The colours are stunning. I wouldn’t change it for an M11 for all the money in the world. I prefer it to my Hasselblad 907x100c in almost every way. Thrilled with my purchase. The only negative for me is lack of weather sealing, but I knew that going in. Everything else is a 10/10.
