I want to use my old Nikkor AF 60mm 2.8D Micro on my M11 for scanning film. The Urth adapter seems well-priced, but I'm interested to hear about experiences with Nikkors on an M body, and in particular for scanning film.

What could go wrong? The adapter is perhaps somewhat too short, but for macro that does not matter. In the FM-forum somebody suggested to not scan 1 to 1. The corners of a picture a lens produces are the weakest parts and the M11 has pixels enough.

Depends on which contact you want to be as good as possible : Nikkor lens to adapter or adapter to Leica body or both?

For occasionnal use get a cheap adapter (ex; K&F concept ), for regular use get a Novoflex.

I tried several Nikon lenses on my Leica cameras.

With the M10, the 20 f2.8 lenses; Macro 105 f2.8, 300 f4, 500 f4 the results are very good equivalent to the Nikon D4 that I own.

With the M11-M the results are not there.

So if I want to use Nikon lenses, I do it with the M10. The M11-M is intractable with the nikon.

The 60mm Nikkor D is great for scanning, sharp and does 1+1, and the adapter doesn't need to be expensive as it's only a spacer. I think the only question mark may be the m11 from what people say. I've used my Nikon F mount lenses on my M10 (using a K&F adapter) and they are very good with perfect coverage and pretty much indistinguishable in overall quality from using them on a 45mp Nikon Z7.

I confess I don‘t understand. What do you think makes the Nikon lens usable with very good results on an M10 and „intractable“ on an M11 Monochrom?

Here is an unpretentious example.

At the top the M10 (Color) at the bottom the M11-M.

The images of the M11M have been resized to the format of the M10, in addition the images made with the APO have been cropped to the size of the 105mm.

Clearly the image of the M11-M with the APO is better.

Of course this screenshot does not reflect the reality of DNG.

I have used several old Nikkor lenses on my M11, with gooe results, no problem. I have used the Novoflex LEI/NIK adapter with Nikkor 1.4/50mm, Micro-Nikkor-P.C 3.5/55mm and the Nikkor 2.5/105mm, all with good results. Fot 50mm lenses the Shoten adapter NF-LM R50 is interesting, since you don't need the Visoflex to focus, because it has its own focus system. It works fine with my 1.4/50mm and 2/50mm Nikkor lenses on analog M camera's, but on my M11 it works fine with the 2/50mm. It is adjustable though but I keep it as it as.

Indeed with adapters the Nikkor lenses on a M body are more bulky than most Leica lenses.

If you have to resize and crop all bets are off.

If I resize and crop the photo of the M11, I degrade it. That's my opinion no!

Yet that is exactly what you did:

Impossible to compare properly.

My Urth Nikon to Leica M Adapter seems very good. I also have the Novoflex G adapter, but it seems to be a mediocre copy in that it is difficult to mount and unmount the Nikon lenses to the adapter, which is very tight. I have tried it with the 60mm/2.8 D micro lens and it is good though hard to use with moving subjects. I plan to use it for negative capture to digital soon.
