Whilst my M11 is away for its holidays in Germany and prob not back until January, I need a 2nd camera.  My thoughts are, not just a 2nd camera as the M11 may have to go back in ownership again (confident eh !), so another stablemate needs to be not just a 'make do'.

Looking towards M10P/R, which I find both quite eye watering prices and availablilty is a lottery especially the R.  M10 is out as I want touch screen.

Have tried SL2S with mount + 35 APO M.  The SL range is out, too heavy and I really miss rangefinder experience.  I am finding with that lens, the photo's are sterile, lack warmth, personality, leave me 'cold'.  I am not dissing the camera at all, but the results has left me questions.  35 APO on M11 I love it.

Is it the combination of SLS2\lens, or 35 APO is more suited to higher MP, or the 24MP is 'that' look?  I am not sure which way to go, its alot of money to buy 10P/R and feel sterile.

My M11 (don't mention M, and it doesn't stand for the model!), I tweak every pic on WB, kinda got used to that even if it does drive me bonkers :)  I did play with the pics from the SL2S on WB, but its just not doing it for me :)  I don't want to buy another M11, I think it will go back to Germany and join its playmate !  Not say another model won't go back...

Many thanks for comments!

I need to decide this weekend what to do, I cannot go to a weekend Supercar show WITHOUT a camera, had to do that last weekend for SImply Japanese and got the iphone out.. OMG... yuk !

The M10P is an absolute mugs game compared to the M10. Same camera for about 70% more does not represent the choice of a sane man but I can’t deny that if I could, I would. It shouldn’t matter what it looks like, it’s a tool to create with but I would absolutely overpay to have that beauty in my life if I could.

Personally I'd go with a Ricoh GR3 but I think it sounds like a Q3 or maybe M10 / M10-R might be a good fit (although you mention it's out of the running. I thought it had a touchscreen but I must be remembering wrong).

I have a combination MD (240 series) and Q3 (And Q43)

I also have APO M35 for my M. It is a really good combination Q3 and M11.

Same censor.

Both Q3 28 and Q43 are good lenses. BUT Q343 is in a class above. It is a fantastic combination Q and M.

I personally would not choose 2 M Cameras.

I'd suggest an M10R, except that you may find you prefer it to your M11. I recently added an M10R in black chrome finish, as the black chrome seems to be significantly cheaper than either black paint or silver chrome. (If the same price I'd prefer silver chrome, but not at $1K more!) I've never cared for the brass wear on black paint bodies, but I have several black chrome cameras from the 1970s on that still look very new. Nothing I've heard about the M11 interests me...

My second M camera is a M film.. love sharing the lenses..

Same here, though lately the M10-R’s been my backup as I’ve been reaching for the M-A first. 😅

Yeah can actually say so,…. Shooting mostly with films, and the digital is the backup when say.. running out of films on foreign soil lol.. either way it’s always good to have a backup for whichever M we r using

I'd choose a camera that adds something to the arsenal that the M11 doesn't do or have rather than a camera that copies it in a slightly different form. So a Monochrom, you can turn your M11 images into B&W anyway, an M10 copies the functions, but go full retro with a good M9 is a different imaging experience because of the amazing CCD sensor. Personally faced with this dilemma one of the Q cameras would add something, as would a film M, but just be careful, you may not want the M11 back.

So had the first outing with the 2nd carmera, M10-R, found it easier to use than the 11 😀  Picked it up few days ago from Mayfair and 2 new additional batteries. Quick look at photo's on a smaller screen (14") and they look great, very happy.

Thanks for all the suggestions, now awaiting the replacement of the M11 (1.5yrs old!), which Leica cannot fix, but grateful of service and solution provided.  Pray the magenta is a little less being a different camera !  I have bonded with the WB function though in C1 😃

I found I was missing the RF experience too much, I did handle SL2S but not for me.

I shoot the M11-M and M10/M10-R so I have no experience of the M11 colours.

Given your apparent lack of trust in the M11 platform and dislike of its colour output, the most logical choice is the M10-R.
A spare battery in the pocket and the M10 series gives practically the same experience except for shutter action and megapixels.

Personally, the M10-R is my favourite camera of the bunch, for no other reason than the tactile feel of the shutter action.
