Advertisement Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Switch to back to Leica from Canon camera body advice. Getting lenses now though before more tariffs.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spersky Posted July 23 Author Share #22 Posted July 23 I am used to this type of stuff with high end German Products. If you have ever bought a Porsche, you pay extra for everything. You would expect to get some of the basic items, but with Porsche you get nothing at all not even air bags without paying for the upgrade. Still worth owing, but it come with these luxury products. My Lumix / Panasonic GH7 was supplied with one - DVLC1005Z* very nice and useful ; it even switches for 9V PD and regular 5V inputs. I sure Leica could do the same if they were not trying to extract another £130 (* vs £30 for a panasonic replacement ).

A complete set. Needs to include a basic Summicron 50/2 as well. And a case. And a protection filter. A starter book. Etc.

EU regulations require USBC charging as a standard and no chargers included to encourage people to have only one and not a drawerful of different types. Reduces waste. Enjoy your new set. It sounds like a well-thought out one. Good for USBC charger sale in the EU but not really saving anything! I need to charge three iPads an M10 an M11 Digilux 8 three phones. which usbC charger should I buy to save? EU make rules because they can, not because. they are smart! jaapv Posted July 25 Share #28 Posted July 25 Plenty of charging bricks with multiple ports and sufficient power on the market…I find the universal USBC connector quite convenient, and it is reducing my charger stable substantially already.

sandro Posted July 26 Share #31 Posted July 26 (edited) I am surprised about the battery charger not being included. When I bought my M11 in March this year the charger was part of the unit I bought, no extra charge. So did those EU regulations change since then?? I have three capable devices and cables and I plug them in every night as needed? Don’t know why I need something else to charge and certainly not something else to carry around! I have no money left after acquiring the Summilux 28! Besides much more fun to spend it on film for my m6 🙂

Other accessories like a handgrip or filters are not included either. This regulation by making USB charging mandatory shifts the chargers into the non-essential accessories category. Excluding the AC mains plug supply makes sense, yet Leica insists on supplying the wasteful AC power to USB-C, and straight to bin bundle of international adapters, with the BC-SCL7 ”USB-C fast-charging technology allows the battery to be charged in an especially short space of time. Three AC power plugs (EU, US, UK) are included. The USB-cable also allows you to charge your camera in the car – so it is always ready for action”
jaapv Posted July 27 Share #37 Posted July 27 Why throw a charging system into the bin and then demand a charger? Doesn’t make sense to me.

There is a clear difference between a battery dock, aka the charger, ( 5V- 12V DC USB-C powered ) and an AC to DC power supply ( with 90-250V AC input and a 5V-12V DC USB-C PD output ) . The AC to DC power supply is common to many items, here EU regs help us; the dock is unique to each battery geometry.
