Seeing that the camera has no frameline selector and both lenses it comes with are 50mm, I'm guessing there's only one set of framelines (for 50mm) in the viewfinder.

No, frame lines are automatically selected when you mount the lens.  The selector simply lets you preview what another lens would look like without actually mounting it.

Seeing #126 was a bit of a treat in its own right!

Yes, and doesn't Haus Friedwart make a lovely setting for the video. I think the knurling on the dials and the engraving are georgeous.

I genuinely hope whoever gets one of these anniversary cameras enjoys them>
Sadly there's nothing for me to aspire to here. Not even the headline limited edition of a camera that's a niche in itself.
Oh well, I'll get out and enjoy what I have!:)

Other than as a shelf queen, no lugs only makes sense if the is a leather case included ( as there was with the 0-series replica - I cut the top off mine to make it a half case compatible with a SBOOI  ).

The Anastigmat-M will be interesting if it makes it into serial production ( a used 0-series replica complete with fixed lens will likely cost less ).

Don't worry, especially for such tasks, God created Luigi Crescenzi, who will build you the most classic and beautiful camera bag you could ask for.

I get it, anniversary and all. But I think many of us wish we could use the 'pedestrian' Leica cameras we just bought but have had to go off for service for a month or six (my M10-R black paint has now had two extended vacations, one right out of the box). Redoing their customer service and quality control would be a legacy for all users, not just a rarefied few.

Yea but then they would cannibalize their secret internal revenue boosting program codenamed “It came with problems? Here, just buy another one while you wait 6 months!”

There is, and it looks nice from this photo..

What a load of Leica BS, it's not celebrating anything other than another over-priced ornament. It would have been classy if they'd opened a lottery for getting one at the equivalent of original price given such an amazing anniversary. I dare say more people would have coughed up for a chance on the lottery and Leica would have made more money, but dreams are not what Leica do, it's avarice and the biggest wallet wins the award.

Remember "Opening up new pork markets..."

You get a clue about the new target demographic from where the '100 Year' events are located. "Over the course of 2025, we will be celebrating the 100-year history of our iconic Leica I camera with high-calibre events in Dubai, Milan, New York, Shanghai and Tokyo" And of course Wetzlar. Wot, no UK. It's ok 'cause you and I wouldn't have been invited.

They might have missed a trick as the Chinese love a flutter, so your idea may have gone well!

They've made it clear they are looking back 100 years - not forward.

The title of the clip includes the wording "Discover the Legacy......100 Years of Leica".

As they are celebrating their centenary surely looking back to the release of their first production camera is to be expected?

Philip.

An interesting collector item for sure, the box (case?) alone is something I’ve never seen even with Leica.

I’m sure these are all sold out, but what’s odd is that my email said Spring 2026 delivery. With firm dates in 2025 for other 100 years gear announced today. The book, etc.

but what I’m most intrigued on is the idea of the 1,000,000 M with serial number 6 million.

Leica is already past 6 million (see attached) in 2024.   So I guess they blocked out these numbers a long time ago.

Yes, I agree. But I thought they might give some hint as to where they’ll go in the next century.

Sadly, even though I admire the M11-D, I think the 100-year-old Leica I looks so much better than its great-great-grandchild.

Requiring far less internal 'packaging' helps in these matters quite a lot. Plus it didn't have to deal with the "Where shall we fit all this rangefinder gubbins?' problem...

😸

But yes; a Leica 1 is a lovely thing indeed. Time for gratuitous photographs methinks? Here is my own 1930 1 Model A to 1 Model C conversion;

It's considerably more 'brassed' now and has film in it as I type...

I hope this hints LLL for their next project… of course with a brass and nickle plated variant…
