There is also another alternative in lieu of buying cases with grips or purchasing thumb grips. Not a cheap investment but a really well thought out design with security measures as well. Not the same protection as a half case offers but I chose to go this route for overall improvement of the Q series designs. Made exclusively in USA.

fit and finish is quite a bit better too.

I agree Luigi is a genuine guy and true Leica fan, but his cases fit where they touch, whereas the AdeM cases fit and touch where they are supposed too. Price is high, but quality is in a different league to all others.

No half case grip or thumbie on my Q, just a wrist strap. On my SL2-S I only have a hand strap.

My film Ms and Barnacks all have half cases (Luigi's).

I have never worked out why I make these choices. It's a mystery.

I empathise - and at least your choices have a sense of logic to them. In my case (no pun intended) I, too, only use a wrist strap on my SL2-S when working at an event or a wedding. Similarly, I’ll use the handgrip and a wrist strap on my old Q (typ 116). I suppose I just find it easier to work that way for candid and documentary stuff.

However, if I’m on holiday, or just wandering around enjoying myself with the Q, then I can’t seem to apply any such logic. Sometimes I prefer the grip but, more often than not, a Q half-case and neck strap. And, as I’m an old poser, I might even stick the ludicrously expensive, less effective, vented Q3 hood on the front! Quite pathetic really. But I’m harmless.

Whatever you choose, enjoy it 👍😆

I do not have a half-case for the Q3 43.  However I did have one for my Fuji X-100, and much later for my X-100 VI.  Didn't like either.  I think I used each about twice, and put them back in their boxes.  One was a gift and the other was part of the deal when I purchased the camera.

They ruined the nice feel of the camera.  I just didn't enjoy holding and using the otherwise almost perfect camera body.  I think I received bit of extra money when I traded the cameras in.

Now, for the Q3 43.  Hmmmm.  I love the ergonomics of the camera.  I love the way it just seems to "fit."  My fear is that the half-case would ruin that.  But, I do like the idea of protecting the camera from being scraped and scratched.

But, on the other hand, I have the magnificent camera to use.  It is not a museum piece or artwork to me.  I use it.  And, it works just as well with some scapes and scratches.  Ya, the camera won't get as much on a trade, but I doubt that I'll ever be trading it.  (OK, I've said that with all my new cameras)

The bottom line:  I'm going to check out the half-case and see how it feels.  But I probably won't like it and won't buy it.

There is no right or wrong answer. I have always had cases on my cameras so it would feel unfamiliar without. It goes back to my early days in photography where the cameras were a big expenditure at that time for me and I wanted/needed to look after them.

I have half-cases for all my cameras and a LIM case for the Q3.  It has access to the battery and SD card.  Looks good, too.  I like them for when the camera has to be set down on something as they help to not scratch the bottom.  I suppose they're a personal preference, and I find them to be practical for keeping the camera in nice shape.

Does anyone make a full case?  I want to stop traveling with a camera bag, just with a small camera + half case while walking around but add the full case (cover over the top and lens) when I stick it in my backpack or carry on during flights.  I never put my camera in checked luggage no matter how small or cheap.

For my D Lux 9, I bought this full case on Ebay and am very satisfied.  Just enough protection to stick in any bag and will take off the top/lens cover and leave in the hotel.

I usually get Arte di Mano for my M cameras but for my Q3 which I also travel with, I would want a full case option.

I needed simple carry solution and grabbed a £15 JJC neoprene case off Amazon, fits well, even with a grip and after week of use it works very well.

No right or wrong answer, just personal opinions and choices.  That said, I would not spend $250-$400 on one.  I have used a half case (purchased from Etsy or Amazon) for 6 years with no regrets YMMV.

I use a case from Angelo Pelle and really enjoy it.  You don't have to remove the case to change batteries or SD cards.

Because to find out if worth to buy now to get the case. Why bother to reply if only purpose to be impolite?

Hardly impolite?! You get a free case, you don’t want it so sell it! Better than not having it?

What is impolite about that?
