Thanks. I am still waiting for a reply from Leica and hopefully they will be able to  give me quick blow. :D

So, I finally got an answer from Leica and I can send the camera to Germany for a clean under warranty but the lead time is at least 2 months.  I think I will do it and sell the camera once I receive it back.

TL:DR

Popped into Leica Store in Sydney this morning.

Safari green M11 batteries are in stock.

I recall some debate here whether they’d be available.

I grabbed one. Don’t really need it right now but when I do they’ll probably be out of stock!!

This thing is so sexy.

I am going green completely. A green leather bag on the way and although j don’t use half cases, was toying with getting a green one for fun :D

Not all bad news for my safari. Today I received a loaner M11 while mine is getting serviced in Germany. Guess using Leica's online store has its perks. Wonder if other places offer the same service?

Let’s hope that one doesn’t need to go back for repair!🤣

The terms and conditions for this loan agreement require me to pay Leica the full £7500 if I break the camera or if it is stolen, despite it being a second-hand M11 with a market value of under £5000. This means I need to handle the camera with extra care, like wear silk gloves while handling it.  🤣

Pulled the trigger as well for a lovely green one.
Looks in reality even better then on the pics here.

Yes. However it doesn’t stop the camera from breaking down for reasons nothing to do with you! A bit like the one you sent back for repair…!

Still, not as bad as YTer Dave Herring who sent his for repair when the frame line lever went floppy. He took it to the courier and then it vanished into thin air, never to be seen again.

Imagine renting an old RR worth $10,000 today, but you are liable to pay $250,000 if it's stolen because that's what it's worth when new.

Would Leica even know it’s broken?

I guess it is the insured value. Do Leica suggest or provide an insurance when doing loans like that? Just curious.

I don't believe Leica insures the camera, as they would essentially get paid twice if I lost or damaged it—once from me and once from the insurer. Surely, Leica wouldn't engage in such practices? Or would them?

If I drop it on the concrete floor, Leica would certainly notice it.

LOL, perhaps, you give them more credit than I do.

Although tongue-in-cheek my comment about Leica noticing is not entirely without some merit.  Several repair attempts were sent back from Leica unrepaired  and "within specs" or normal.  A second more insistent attempt at repair or request that Germany evaluate it were necessary.

If Leica provided for an insurance, they would have a claim due to the camera they own being lost or damaged, and the insurer would compensate Leica for that loss or damage. The insurance premium would be paid by yourself or  Leica depending on the loan contract. Just a guess as i have no experience with such contracts in the camera business, hence my question.

If I were in your shoes, I would prefer the Safari.

I sold my M10R BP and bought an M11 Safari.

The BP looks really great, BUT you will see every fingerprint and every microscratch.

Another point to consider: M11 BP has only the smaller internal memory of 64 GB and, as far as I know, does not provide content credentials.

Safari looks great too (of course subjective 😉).

Same for me
