Really?

With 86400 seconds in a day, you literally have to take a picture every 35 seconds in order to achieve 2500 images a day, not even considering you need to eat, sleep, shit...etc. (or maybe you don't need...)

nothing crazy when you shoot in burst mode (sport, fashion, wildlife, corporate, weddings, dance...)

It’s worth mentioning that if every manufacturer stops including chargers then everybody will have to buy one.

Perhaps it’s a cunning plan to support the nascent EU charger making sector? 🤔

Charger making sector can profit mainly if EU makes it mandatory to include a charger or two with every camera.

But i realised no price decreased without the charger.. so manufacturer makes more profits?

I shit quickly. Otherwise it is a waste.

But seriously, a proper, 12-page long fashion editorial is 1500-2500 images in a full shoot day.
I do not do weddings, but a wedding these days is up to 10.000 with a second shooter. I read on reddit the other day a guy did 23K images in one single wedding and gave 800 to the bride and groom. The thread was burning lol.

23000 photos on a wedding? That’s video 😁

Regarding the charger debate: iPhone also comes without charger. That’s common practice now. But I like the external charger for my cameras, so that I bought one.

I also tend to carry a power bank with me on travels. More for my phone and tablet but the M can be charged too if necessary. I also believe it can be used whilst being charged which is cool.

I am likely to shoot 1000+ images in a three hour play rehearsal, no burst shooting (or not often - it may depend on critical fast action - more likely with dance). Even with the quickest reactions one cannot be sure of getting a moment when none of several people in the shot are not blinking, look as if at least one is speaking (a shot where all the subjects have their mouths closed lacks life), and have exactly the right eye contact etc. I'm not shooting every 10s, but there are frequent periods when I am shooting every couple of seconds.

Processing:

  1. Load into Lightroom, and back up.
  2. Select all images and apply batch 'Auto' for lighting (this is simply to make evaluation easier).
  3. Run through them one by one, tagging all rejects. ~2 hours. Delete rejects. This reduces the number of images by about half.
  4. Run all images at ISO 800 or higher through LR Denoise AI - a batch process. I usually do this overnight. Depending on time of day, I may do this stage before (3). Back up again.
  5. Apply a custom 'Stage Lighting' preset to all images: tone curve, saturation, clarity, post-crop vignette....
  6. Depending on the event, I may also batch apply other custom masks: 'background fade and lighten/darken', 'skin smoothing' etc.
  7. Go through the survivors, typically adjusting, in sequence: crop/straightening, white balance, lighting. Local adjustments, mask removals etc. Delete some individuals. ~4 hours. I have certain custom presets which speed things up.
  8. This leaves a third of the original images. Rename them, create a LR Collection, sync to LR online, and send a link to the play publicity manager. Back up again.
  9. Reformat SD card.

If I've taken the photos in the evening, then without interruptions they can be distributed by mid afternoon the next day. The labour intensive components are 3 (tedious) and 7 (usually rewarding). Taking the photos, for someone who enjoys working with people and appreciates music, drama and dance performance, is sheer pleasure, and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to do it.

My apologies for posting this in a thread about the M11 Safari, but there appeared to be some disbelief that there could be different photographic practices out there....

Re charger issues

I truly believe we will all benefit from the idea of one (or two) charger or cable for all our electric nomad stuff … when I see the amount of used chargers and cables accumulated in a drawer here and that won’t ever be used anymore… buying back all the cables when changing phone is silly really, same for cables with headphones.
As long as those in need of a battery charger because of intense use are able to buy one it makes sense.

Yes, it's the Leica cognac strap. I fine it rather difficult to put the metal rings on without scratching the lugs. :(

It’s like for cars, the first little scratch is the one that hurts most. The camera will get its fair share of scratches while being used. I find Leica cameras even more attractives with these life marks.

Just picked up mine today! Super excited to try it, but even more to try this lens for the first time... now if only the dang battery would finish charging. 🙈😮‍💨

If I may, it would have looked much better with a silver noctilux 1.2. But of course it would cost a small fortune

Thanks for sharing. The black strap / black Lens combination works quite well in my view with the safari body

I absolutely agree, but after checking the going rate for those (yikes!) it was pretty clear it was not going to happen! 😂
