Dazzajl Posted April 23 Share #2 Posted April 23 Love the tight framing and the colour palette here.
photophile Posted April 23 Share #3 Posted April 23 Gary: another wonderful image! Tone, crop and repose blend perfectly. How do you like the VL75 1.5 (vs a 90 cron?) Pondering adding that one. Thanks...Coos

I love the VL 75mm 1.5, for me it's the perfect focal length for intimate portraits and useable wide open. I have a 90mm Elmarit but it always seems a bit to long for what I need for making portraits. The 75 is probably my most used lens.

stuny Posted April 23 Share #6 Posted April 23 Lovely. Please shoot a classic portrait of her, using your careful lighting skills. Then show it to us.

farnz Posted April 24 Share #8 Posted April 24 A lovely, natural portrait, Gary, and I particularly like the pose and the lighting. If I may be so bold as to point out something I would change (after all it's how we learn isn't it?) I would ask the model to use less make-up. The cheek rouge, red lipstick and eye-shadow give (me) the sense that the make up was applied for the shoot and detracts from the picture's naturalness. (Would she be wearing make-up if she was at home reclining on a couch and staring into the distance. Please feel free to consider or ignore what I've written but I hope you will take my words as they are meant: constructively. I still very much like your picture. Pete.
Biotar Posted April 25 Share #9 Posted April 25 I, on the other hand, take the make-up off her in everyday life and it also harmonizes with the colors in the picture. ... and always draws the eye to the left corner 😉 What aperture did you use? - The focal plane is perfect. I believe it was f2.5.
