Hello all,

I need some advice. I picked up a used 35mm Summilux pre-FLE for about 2k. It does have some minor oil on the aperture blades and the tiniest amount of resistance in one spot when moving the focus tab. I'm seeking advice about whether it is worth keeping for 2k or if it would be better to return it and save for something in better condition.

No it is not

That means it may not have been serviced in a couple of decades (the M8 came-out in 2006). It's probably worthwhile to send it to your favourite service technician (or to Leica New Jersey) and have it cleaned, lubricated, and coded, especially since you seem to have paid a relatively low price for it. You'll be good for a few decades after that.

You may have it coded together with the CLA. At $2k it could interest me if it is in good condition but i would make sure that i does not suffer from focus shift too much at around f/4.

I'd say the shiny spots on the blades are a non-issue. The aperture blades do rub slightly together and may be just wear marks - and if there is any oil it is so slight I'd ignore it. Such things are more an issue with auto-aperture SLR lenses, where old oil can cause slow operation.

I've had several lenses where a tight spot on focusing would wear-in and disappear with sufficient exercise.

If it were my lens I'd just use it and enjoy it,
