Mine arrived yesterday, have had little time with it so far, only went shooting for 45 minutes with it this morning to give it a whirl.

My initial thoughts:

-Battery life not great, after very little fiddling with the menus yesterday and the 45 min shooting, I went from a full charge down to roughly 55%.

-Ergonomics:  I have shot with 3 lenses on it so far the Sigma C series 35, 90 and Leica ASPH 50mm L.  The best feeling was the 90 as it is the lightest, and this camera  needs light lenses.  holding it with the sharp edges became a bit bothersome after very little shooting.  I will try with some L mount APO lenses but I can tell already they will be very cumbersome to shoot unless using two hands.   I placed two peak design anchors (see pic) on the mounting point to have it hang around my neck, I did find it hangs around the neck very awkwardly and most of the time I would hold it in the hand, and there another reason why a light lens is a must for this camera imo.  I have seen some use a PD base plate with two anchor points, may give that a try, but then the camera loses it coffee table IG appeal 😉

-Screen and Menu: so far are fine, Menu was very intuitive, screen on a cloudy day has been fine - I have yet to use it on a sunny day.

-AF:  Very pleasantly surprised, feel it much snappier than the Q343/SL3.  Dare I say almost Sony like.

-Customizability, again have not played much with it, but for walking around it's not a manual shooting camera (ie constantly adjust exposure) I feel it needs to be on auto something be it ISO or A priority.  Adjusting shutter speed/iso/aperture is not hard from the menus it's not a dedicated physical dial and therefore makes it cumbersome to me.  I found that while having the camera hang around my neck it would adjust settings on it's own which was a bit annoying but again easily corrected as the menu is quite intuitive to me.

-Color profiles, played around with a few, they seem ok, but I have not even downloaded my images yet...

More thoughts to come.

Have been very short on time but went out again today with the camera in much brighter conditions and found the back screen quite usable.  maybe midday sun will be worse, but frankly all angles were usable except when shooting towards the direction of the sun, but I have yet to really find many cameras that are good at that.  Yes a good evf will avoid that, but this is certainly one of the drawbacks....

A few other things I am happy with.  The speed of tranfer/loading images either plugged into your phone or computer is so much faster than any SD card I have used, a nice bonus.

Menu has not caused any issues again.  Ergonomics still more or less the same.

Played around with some of the jpg recipes built into the camera, they are quite decent.

I have an album there with SOOC jpgs with different simulations applied.

I have an album there with SOOC jpgs with different simulations applied.  Lenses used in the gallery are either Sigma: 35, 90 contemporary lenses or the leica 50mm asph l mount.

Quite happy so far with it.  It's fun.

Both ends of the carrying strap on one side? If I ever dared doing this, I'd have chosen the left side, for having the strap out of the way of the right hand.

But maybe the strap gave you some support holding this edgy box?! I remember, the Leica TL 2 indeed got its edges rounded a bit, as the third version of the carved aluminium block from Wetzlar.

Back then customers' feedback finally  (alas too late) knocked the staunch Bauhaus, Mies van der Rohe etc. design department whim of Leica.

While the genius Steven Jobs, known for his worship of perfect aesthetics and design, rounded the edges of his billion seller from day one.

The market is always right: let's see the BF success story.

Well, we cannot overlook Braun and Dieter Rams who have HEAVILY (some say to the point of pure copying) influenced Apple.

To be honest I never had a camera before which was such a fun to use!

Did you - or anyone else here for that matter - ever use a T/TL/TL2? It would be interesting to hear of a comparison.

Marc, not just fun. The results are excellent and this motif makes my heart beat faster, you know. SIGMA has long been my favorite when it comes to lenses and the iSeries is small, handy and has a good price.

Well, these are impressive images!
I intend to replace my heavy SL3-s camera with a much lighter full format camera.
Was thinking of a XXXXii  (does nog belong here)  but with these results, it makes me considering to look at this beautiful BF as well.
Also important, no swap of the L-Mount lenses to another mount. 🙂

I completely agree with you Rolf. The Sigma lenses are fantastic: light weight, perfect feel of surface and really a very good image quality.

Love the car, but the garage door looks a bit small ☹️

No, don‘t worry. The car is so small, there is plenty of room in the garage!😉

Next week I will test it under „real world conditions“

@LocalHero1953 My wife has the TL-2 and for sure you can not compare them directly, the TL-2 is a much older camera. The BF starts faster and has a much better high Iso capacity. The monitor of the TL-2 on the back is larger and of course the AF with eye detection is very fast with the BF. But TL-2 lens works very good on the BF and it is really a beautiful combination with the 2.8/18!!!
