  1. Just pre-ordered one to see what the hype is about. Have the Q2 and never use it and can't really sell it for a reasonable price...
  2. Hi @Sandokanthanks for the invite, but have been all week with a flu and definitely won’t make it next week. Enjoy.
  3. Wow. Post #1 by @BernardC and #7/#10 by @hansvons have been the most informative piece of info on filming I have seen/read in the two years I have been dancing around the subject always thinking I want to dip my toes into. Thank you!
  4. Have this constant debate in my mind. What I love about the SL system is really the ease of use, buttons and dials are well placed, there are not too many instances you are accidently changing a setting and that viewfinder is magic. But the only way I can use this camera all day is really with sigma/panasonic or the leicasonic lenses. Even using the heavier M glass like the Summilux 35 M lens all day was quite heavy. The AF has never been a major issue. It's all weight for me that keeps me from using this as a daily camera. If they shave off significant weight I may be tempted to upgrade, but I have since also gone the route of Sony with some great glass in a combo that is almost as light as the SL2 body alone, and that weight element vs IQ (or perceived IQ) is hard to beat in my case.
  5. Q system seems to be great for this, but since it did not "connect" very well with you - maybe best not to buy it just for this. What about the sigma contemporary 28-70 2.8 for your SL2? I can understand how shooting a rangefinder would be mythical up there and you would probably enjoy it more, but you are going to be dealing with possible extreme weather conditions that can change rapidly, weather sealing seems like an absolute must. Take what you have, the SL2! All reports of that sigma lens are fantastic in terms of IQ, weight is only 470g vs 1140g of the leica 24-90. Sure you miss a bit on the wide and on the long end. Someone else mentioned a 3 prime setup - Sigma/Panasonic have some great light weight primes for the L mount that would do the trick - look into those. Good luck, and enjoy the experience sounds amazing!

  7. I have very little experience compared to the other members who have posted. I like you started with the Q2 coming from another brand and now have M11 and the SL2-S. I love them! I have purchased a few SL APO primes and they are great, but so are Sigma lenses, and for my photography frankly it's hard to justify having a lens that costs upwards of 5x the cost of a lens that renders 98% of what the APO does. I am not much of a tele zoom shooter as can't stand the weight and frankly get infuriated by tripods. However I have the 100-400 by sigma and I can't say anything bad about the IQ. Since you seem to want long reach have you not considered the Sigma 60-600? that plus the 21 APO two lenses, few filters and you should be set... I know it is not leica glass, and the micro contract etc etc etc... but I would say something along those lines seems to fit someone who is not afraid of carrying heavy gear, has little time in each spot and needs to unify filters etc... In the end there is something special about Leica looks, rendering and the more you read this forum the more you want to just buy all that wonderful SL glass. But during my short photographic life I have unfortunately now found that I can get 90% of the result using lighter, smaller, more versatile gear, and cheaper gear. Best of luck in your decision.
  8. Not a filter expert I use a magnetic filter system with step up rings and works to have one set of filters for all my lenses, M, SL, Sigma etc...
  9. I had the Zf for a bit. Also had the techart adapter for Z. Frankly I was not impressed with the weight and performance was subpar. Using the Zf with the eye detect magnification worked very well with just a normal M adapter, however I found the ergonomics of the Zf not great, the placement of the magnification button rather uncomfortable. The Evf is decent. In the end shooting M glass on my Sl2-s is a far superior experience. After selling my Zf I bought the sony a7cii - since Evf is shit I tried M glass on it once and have since given up. For me M glass will stay primarily on my M body or on my Sl2s. Techart adapter on Sony I can't speak for, but after my Nikon experience I will not even give it a try unless someone lends it to me. Note that the techart is hefty, iirc ~350g, that plus a summilux lens puts this whole thing in the SL Apo prime weight range. Read up on the Zf and users experience in the forum here:
  10. Congrats on the engagement. Whilst I cannot help with your main request, I did see some images from IG: @parisphotographer.quin or www.quinphoto.fr . I really got a leica type feel to the images, no idea what camera this photographer uses, but can't hurt to reach out. Good luck!
  11. I have Q2 and Sl2-s. Love both, but am selling the Q as it's redundant in my collection and is picking up dust. SL2-s with Apo lenses is marvelous, and does balance very nicely, but it does get heavy for me when carrying all day long, especially if you have another one in a bag. SL2-S with Sigma i series or Panasonic lenses is much lighter and I can probably go all day like this. the IQ out of these Sigma and Panasonic lenses is nothing to complain about. The Q you can carry around all day, and carry it around with your existing M and you probably won't be too bothered. Good luck with your decision. The only thing is that you will likely never be content once you get one, as you will have FOMO about the other...
  12. LLL 35mm 8E is fun. The APO is v. nice, but you complained about weight - it is not light for all day carry. Would stick to Sigma and go with the M upgrade.
  13. I have the 28 ultron type ii, but hardly ever use it so can't comment too much on it. I shoot 28 on my Q2 and that is about it. A few reviews you may not have seen may help: https://jacktaka.com/leica-28mm-f2 https://jacktaka.com/voigtlander-28mm-f2
