FarbSpieler Posted February 23 Share #1 Posted February 23 Advertisement (gone after registration) As we dive into 2025, I’m curious how the M10/P is holding up for you all. With the M11/P/D tempting your wallets, do you still find yourself reaching for the M10? A few things to consider: Image Quality: Are the M10’s 24MP still delivering the image you want? Emotional Connection: Is it delivering that unique experience that drew you to it in the first place? Reliability: Any issues, or is it as dependable as ever? Value: In today’s market, does it still hold its worth? Given that it’s now an eight-year-old digital camera (practically vintage in tech terms), how well has it aged? I’ve been using my M10 regularly and have some thoughts, but I’d love to hear your experiences and any comparisons you’ve made with other Leica models. Let’s share, discuss and confess! Advertisement Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Hi FarbSpieler, Take a look here Leica M10 in 2025: is it still your go-to camera?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Topsy Posted February 23 Share #2 Posted February 23 Don't know about M10s but my M9s still tick all the boxes you have asked about. IQ, yes I love the output. Emotional connection, they are my favourite cameras. Reliability, I've had one issue with one of the 3 I use but it is now sorted. Value, doesn't matter because I will never sell them. 2

evikne Posted February 23 Share #4 Posted February 23 (edited) My M10, bought right after launch in 2017, is still my only camera. It still works perfectly and I have nothing to complain about. 24 MP is more than enough for me and the colors are superb. The files are very malleable, as long as I take care to expose correctly, which I learned the hard way during the first months (never overexpose!). My only regret is that I didn't wait a bit and bought the M10-D instead because of the silent shutter and because the feel of the LCD screen on the back annoys me. irenedp Posted February 23 Share #5 Posted February 23 I have an M10r and an M9. Recently added a monochrom. Seriously, the reason I have the 10r is because it can use the visoflex. I also use larger cameras for professional work. But in the category… yes, the 10r is an excellent camera. And I would be in love with it if I didn’t have the 9. Much harder to use, but yes emotional connection, and love the results.
Olaf_ZG Posted February 23 Share #6 Posted February 23 I had a m10. Sold it when I bought a m10m. Sold those also. Now I’m back to two m8’s. It’s all I need for a m.
TomB_tx Posted February 23 Share #7 Posted February 23 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M10 is still all the camera I need. Totally reliable, fine low light performance, more resolution than I need. I was satisfied with M9 also, got the 10 when the 9 went in for sensor replacement. Since I’m satisfied with the M10 the M9 is going to my son.
Evo Posted February 23 Share #8 Posted February 23 The M10 is still my go-to digital M, and my Q-P is my go-to EDC digital cam but I've gravitated back to film more and more and now I'm usually carrying an M6 Classic and an Xpan II. As far capability though the M10 is more than enough for my uses and with AI upscale in Photoshop I've made 4' wide prints from both the Q-P and M10 that look amazing. I would like to try a monochrome body at some point but I think my rediscovery of the joy of film will continue to grow. Pic: M10+35 Cron. ASPH Welcome, dear visitor! Helge Posted February 23 Share #9 Posted February 23 I got the M10 because it had function-wise everything I was looking for in a digital M, and it was the first digital M that was shape-wise as close as possible to an analogue M. It is still my favorite digital camera. Owning an analogue MP I like the interchangeability of lenses. I‘m still absolutely fine with the great image quality, even in low light. It is my favorite camera for almost all occasions The reliability is great, I never had any issue within the last 7 years, weather on hiking highest mountains or on heavy boat trips. Today‘s value is still unexpected high, considering a digital camera.
erl Posted February 23 Share #10 Posted February 23 When first released, I went to my then supplier and said, can I see the M10 please. Yes. I loved it. when I was told the price, I I said thanks, but no thanks. Caught the train home and checked my letter box as I went through the gate. There was letter from my bank explaining they had made an accounting mistake and corrected it in my favour, to an amount that was greater than the cost of the M10. Next morning I bought that M10, that was only intended as a demo. Since then it is still my go to digital camera, ably backed up by my now very old but reliable M9-P. Both cameras deliver all my prints to A2 size. Would be larger if I could afford a bigger printer. The M10 is fabulous in low light and high ISO' a space I frequently inhabit. Of late, I have been shooting mainly film, because the total film experience 'uses' more of me. That way I feel special.

M11 for me Posted February 24 Share #12 Posted February 24 May I disturb these nice cyrcles? We seem to be in an M10 bubble here 🤣. I had the M10 which I bought in 2017. Two years ago I switched to the M11. I never regreted the upgrade (it is definitely a clear upgrade). The new sensor is my main point that I see as the big progress. The DNGs are extremely malleable. With the M10 I always had some degree of disatisfaction as it was difficult to avoid blown out highlights. With the M11 its a different story. Same with dark areas. I hope that you still talk to me after this post. But I would never go back to the M10.
timo01 Posted February 24 Share #13 Posted February 24 For my needs, the m10 is the best camera I've ever had and i had a few cameras in the past (Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Sony, M8, Q2). I carry the m10 every day! 3
maxpower Posted February 24 Share #14 Posted February 24 (edited) While I mostly am using M11 cameras these days, I still love my M10-P Safari as well. Image quality is still fine; dynamic range on the M11 is definitely nicer when editing DNGs, don't care about megapixels. Out of camera colours prefer M10-P, so overall I'm still quite happy with the M10-P output. "Emotional connection" for me is probably stronger on my M10-P than the M11; mainly because the shutter sounds nicer and doesn't open on start-up, and man that stupid bottom plate I love it. Plus my Safari edition is green, literally! Reliability have not had issues with it, battery life is less ideal compared to my M11s is maybe the only point I'd mention. Value on the market is still good I think, but have no plans of selling it anytime soon so not really relevant. IkarusJohn Posted February 25 Share #16 Posted February 25 (edited) Two digital M cameras: Silver chrome M9-P based Monochrom (code name Henri), bought in 2013, sensor replaced and going strong - CCD sensor, lovely DNG (only) files and raw based histogram. A keeper. M10-D (based on the M10-P) - the perfect digital M camera. Like all my digital Leica's both have had ICU treatment at the Mothership. All good so far. When they die, the M-A will get more use! Edited February 25 by IkarusJohn
Stevejack Posted February 26 Share #17 Posted February 26 M10 still holds up. When the M11 came out I upgraded from the M10-R and have no regrets. The M11 is a nice upgrade for how I like to use the camera, with lots of small quality of life improvements - but it loses some charm in comparison to the M10 series. I still have the M10-D, and though I intended to switch to the M11-D as my only colour Leica, I was extremely disappointed with Leica's efforts there - the M11-D was a very lazy release IMO, so I kept the M10-D. I'm never disappointed with the pictures from the M10-D, and truly for me the M11 series is more about the quality of life improvements rather than megapixel / sensor improvements. I would honestly just choose the camera based on how you respond to it emotionally. If you're drawn to pick it up and use it, you know it's the right camera for you. Leica is all about the experience of using the camera and not the end result.

At all ISO's, and I frequently use the higher ISO's, the prints from the M10 sing. Currently, I am favouring film and enjoy my classic M6. A2 prints from that sit very comfortably alongside the M10 prints. The joy of using both cameras is great, but the end result, for me is paramount. They both deliver.
LPettigrew Posted February 26 Share #19 Posted February 26 The classic M10 doesn’t feel like a camera that will ever truly be outdated. I’ve gone through enough gear to know the usual cycle—something new comes out, your current camera suddenly feels inadequate, and before you know it, you’re upgrading. But with the M10, that pressure isn’t there. It still feels as good to use today as it did when I first picked it up. It’s not about specs. The rangefinder experience hasn’t changed in decades, and that’s the point—it’s simple, direct, unfiltered, and makes you work for the shot in the best way possible. The build is solid, no nonsense. It's built to last, and I like that. Honestly, the only thing that may kill the M10 is when SD cards or batteries become impossible to find. Until then, it just keeps going and delivering excellent images. There’s nothing inside it that feels like it’s fighting against time. It’s just a camera, made to be used, and as long as I can keep using it, I don’t see myself needing anything else. 4
Mikep996 Posted February 26 Share #20 Posted February 26 "Leica M10 in 2025: is it still your go-to camera?" No. Initially a Q2 took over from my M10 as my go-to digital camera. Now, though I'm a bit embarrassed to admit on this site, my iPhone 16 Pro took over that role. I haven't taken an M-camera shot in nearly two years; haven't taken a Q2 shot in 6+ months. I used to say that I used M cameras because I enjoyed using them. But I don't have that feeling anymore. Sad but true. :(
