As I've commented before: it's a heck of a lot easier to put an auxiliary electronic viewfinder onto a camera with coupled rangefinder than it is to put an auxiliary coupled rangefinder onto a camera with electronic viewfinder.

Maybe not quite as hard as you think (except not coupled - you have to read the measurement off the dial, and then transfer that by hand to the lens focus ring scale).

And cheaper, too.

This was the only focusing tool (except guessing, or tape measures) for the original-series Leicas whose 100th anniversary we are celebrating this year. The built-in RFs took another seven years to arrive (1932).

This question has been discussed for years here. We will know the definite answer tomorrow, hopefully. Touch wood 🙏

Yes, I was there with my idea too.

What would you think of a rebranded Panasonic S9 with a Visoflex connection?

There’s a new photo of the real deal - well, on a rumour site

It doesn’t look as nice from this angle without the window but that rangefinder patch is still there. I’m hoping it’s for a unique focusing experience.

The big remaining question is how focus confirmation works and what the patch window has to do with this.

Actually, I don't think the missing viewfinder window looks that bad, as long as the camera is in black, that makes it less prominent. But silver would look very strange.

Since I’m in the US and my invite got canceled, I’ll laugh if they don’t announce this camera. I will say, to make myself feel better sitting at home… all my favorite photos in history were taken on a rangefinder and not one on any rumored EVF M. So there!

Wishful thinking.

Lack of skill or eye problems? The superior accuracy of the RF up to about  100 mm is well documented. I recommend reading Gúnther Osterloh: Leica M advanced Photo School. IMO required reading for anybody aspiring to use a Leica M to its full potential.
Meanwhile the real difference is that with an optical telescope viewfinder you are looking at the real world and with an EVF you are looking at a video on a mini-screen.

As I said wishful thinking. Thank you for proving my point.

For me it’s not a matter of one or the other as the RF always wins out in this comparison. It’s whether I will have both alongside each other. If the focus confirmation is unique and not what we have in every other mirrorless camera to date then it could compliment the standard RF nicely.

If I'm thinking about this correctly - and please correct me if I'm wrong - does that mean that the way this will work is that you have EVF for framing of any lens of any focal length and then RF patch for focusing? Seems rather strange
