That might be the solution : a GoPro like action camera plugged into the hot shoe, could also proved the offset view needed for a digital rangefinder; it would also be a big plus to those POV Youtube creators Leica is so in love with.

The reason for M-EV1 is to avoid having anything (Visoflex) mounted in the hot shoe.

Now that the EV1 is real, was it the end of the world?

It was just the end of nearly 200 pages of speculation.

But hey, the new thread about the M EV2 is already up and running! 🤪

M EV1 … I don’t know but if you shot photos the style of Alex Webb ( stop down aperture, critical framing with layers, contrasting lights with correct exposure ⋯⋯)will be a perfect tools that quick enough when eyes and brain do the prevision.

@evikne M EV2 will be interesting as we can start to dream of tomorrow and I like this idea.

Hey, it’s not for you!
So just enjoy.
you don’t need the camera and it’s not aimed at you.
you could test it, if you like, just to see if all your arguments stick.
The camera is aimed at clients that have a bias against the traditional M system, but would like to breath the aura of the new camera. And they are real. They are just not in this forum, but sooner or later they will arrive. There where lots of people that didn’t want a smartphone before the iPhone > but in the end ….
Time will tell.
Cheers

I don't seem to fit either - I would get the EV1 complementary to my other six rangefinder cameras (M3, M4-2, M6, M7, M-E 240, and M 246) I own. Why: because sometimes in-camera EVF is better - examples where I make use of it is for ultra-wide lenses I am using on my M cameras like the TTArtisan 11/2.8 which I really like. Another one where the EV1 makes sense for my photography is for close-up work when I attach a close-focus lens onto the attached M lens. Wide-angle lenses on non-Kolari modified FF sensors of other brands are difficult, and the EV1 offers the unique advantage of directly mounting M-lenses without adapter. Even the focus peaking and magnification tools are long established in industry, and I also hoped for a more modern focus system in the EV1 - I am okay with it - used M lenses for many years adapted to my Sony A7R before I even got my first digital M.

The reason why I am not going to get the EV1 now is the price tag in the US market. $9K is way above my limit for such Leica camera.
