Hello Friends,

I am thinking to pick-up a wate to use for architecture in combination with the perspective control. Does anybody have images of big building shot at 16mm in combination with perspective control?

Thank you, Giulio

Hi,

I do have the Zeiss 18mm f4 ZM Distagon and the Super Elmar M 21mm f3.4 and use both with the Perspective Correction. The images are perfectly usable. I marked on the monture of the 18mm the code of the Leica 18mm, so that I don't need to introduce that information  manually when changing lenses. The PC feature needs to know the focal length in order to work. I suppose your WATE is coded.

Good luck!

M11 perspective control works the same as with SL3. Here is an SL3 shot at 16mm with LPC turned on and a slight (-8) adjustment of vertical transform.

Unfortunately the WATE albeit coded will not transmit the focal length used. This will lead to inaccuracies.

Yes, the information passed is always 16mm.

Except when you select the proper lens-and-focal-length information from the lens menu. Of course, sooner or later you WILL forget to select the proper menu item after changing the focal length.

Apart from that—you can always correct the converging lines in your image-processing software after the fact ... no need to do that at capture time.

Didn't notice this thread  until today. Here's a shot from a recent trip.

If you do it at capture time, you can adjust your framing (guidelines in live view) before taking the shot. Adjusting at capture time sometimes works better than at post-processing time, though I often combine LPC data with minor manual adjustments.

Quite. And the OP wants to shoot at 16 mm. For that purpose a Super Elmar 18 might be more practical if he can accept the smaller AOV.

The WATE reports 16 mm. If you use WATE as a 16mm mainly, then it should work fine.

BTW, people have reported using LPC set at 16mm with wider lenses than 16mm with great success (LPC does not work with focal lengths wider than 16mm).

Another shot from my hotel room, 20 stories high.
