Richard K Posted December 5, 2024 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) than waiting for a Q3 Monochrom? Phase AF wouldn’t be an issue and unless you’re making large prints, 47 Mpx is enough especially starting at 43mm. It would be nice to have the 2 lens options on a Monochrom. Advertisement Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Hi Richard K, Take a look here Would a Q2 43 Monochrom be better. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Dr. G Posted December 5, 2024 Share #2 Posted December 5, 2024 I have a few of the APO SL lenses that I've always used with that system. A Q3 43 monochrome would be fantastic. The way APO lenses render black and white images are different than non-APO lenses. There's almost a hyper-real quality to them. I'd be in if they made one.
JNK100 Posted December 5, 2024 Share #3 Posted December 5, 2024 I wasn't aware there was a Q2 43M available?

Leica would need to redesign the Q2 with the newer lens, too much hassle for a product that has been EOL for a year.

I'd love this. Currently using a combo of the Q2M and M11M (with a 50 glued to it). A Q3 43M would be my dream camera, and likely replace both. My understanding is that the Bayer array is what supports PDAF, not the sensor. If that’s correct, then you would have a manual focus only B&W camera. Might as well get an M11M in that case.

They are added per customer requests. Customers can request a Sony sensor without a Bayer array and with PDAF microlenses.

Yes, that would be the logical choice. But there have been multiple rumours by the usual suspects that there won’t be a monochrom version of the Q3. I hope one will be released for those who want it.
