I have a few of the APO SL lenses that I've always used with that system.  A Q3 43 monochrome would be fantastic.  The way APO lenses render black and white images are different than non-APO lenses.  There's almost a hyper-real quality to them.  I'd be in if they made one.

There isn’t and there won’t be one. Leica would need to redesign the Q2 with the newer lens, too much hassle for a product that has been EOL for a year.

This is as I thought - I was just perplexed by the original.post.

Here's a thought. Redesign the Q3 43 without a bayer filter?

My understanding is that the Bayer array is what supports PDAF, not the sensor. If that’s correct, then you would have a manual focus only B&W camera. Might as well get an M11M in that case.

Bayer array is not what supports PDAF. PDAF is implemented with special microlenses.

Which the Sony sensor does not have then.

Sony sensors do not initially have a Bayer array or microlenses. They are added per customer requests. Customers can request a Sony sensor without a Bayer array and with PDAF microlenses.

Yes, that would be the logical choice. But there have been multiple rumours by the usual suspects that there won’t be a monochrom version of the Q3. I hope one will be released for those who want it.

All sensors used today in cameras have microlenses.

Yes, and they vary by manufacturer. GFX50 has microlenses that are different from those of X1D 50c (both use Sony 50mp sensors).

They may use a wafer manufactured by a company Sony owns but there endeth the similarities.
