To get rid of overstock.

So, glossy black with gorgeous knurling or 256GB of (glitchy) internal memory and content authenticity?

I really can’t see why Leica would choose the M11 for a BP variant, rather than an 11P. It might be that they have excess stock of M11 bodies.  I gather that this is not a limited edition so will exist as an alternative to the standard M11.

And isn’t the consensus opinion that freezing issues are much less common on the 11P (with latest firmware), making the M11 (non P model) questionable?

Why not give us an ME11?

Perhaps the Glossy Black bodies are from the old stock of the silver colored (brass body) M11’s that they discontinued?

No, the M11 "questionable" thing is referring to early production M11 that may or may not have hardware issues. So that concern, which not all of us seem to share, is limited to buying used M11s without a warranty and/or from a seller without a generous return policy.

Basically all M11 variants are solid under 2.1.3, though some minor issues remain that Leica has said they are aware of and working on.

Maybe this glossy black M11 signals a new approach from Leica – release many more variants to keep the hype going. I wouldn't be surprised if all of a sudden Leica tests the waters with and M11-EVF model that some of us have desperately wanted to own and use alongside our traditional M11s with the optical finder.

Maybe that’ll be the M11-E? Absence of mechanical rangefinder makes way for lower price point. Do away with triple resolution and I’d consider that a legitimate backup option for my kit.

Doing away with a feature like the triple resolution would add cost since they'd have to remove the code from the firmware, and there likely dependencies throughout that would have to be modified as well. It's not a chip/hardware that can just be removed to save cost.

I hope the EVF version isn't cheaper, because that would mean they use a lower resolution viewfinder. I want to see them use a 9 million dot EVF with a faster processor in the camera, which would keep the price point about the same.

Some say Leica passed the Safari and the Reporter versions this time; but I don’t think so, they will watch the black paint sales and then decide to release these two models. Just my opinion..

I sure hope they don't skip them either, especially the Safari. It's just free money for Leica for minor cosmetic changes that draw trade-ups and new buyers.

I don’t see much merit in purchasing the M11 Glossy Paint for those of us who own the M10-R Black Paint. Additionally, covering the back screen eliminates the need to buy the M11-D as well.

Curious to know what shutter release is this one?

Well, Leica and many others thought it was a good idea and Leica just scored its 100 year high record fiscal profit so they must be doing this right.

Can you share report regarding profits?  I only saw reports of record revenues.
