You tap the bits that you want sharp on the LCD and the camera merges to the final image. Sharp and with surprisingly few artefacts too. Paul2660 Posted June 9 Share #54  Posted June 9 Still amazes me that Leica can’t add this to their SL line. Focus bracketing is standard across every other mirrorless camera line that matters. It took Canon a while but I believe their latest bodies have it.  It’s not just for macro work I use it in Landscape settings all the time.  I don’t need it produced in camera. Just create the algorithm to shoot the series and I can use Helicon in post.  I assume it is just not on the drawing board along with a multishot solution. It would seem that the logic and mechanics of focusing have been solved. What is not clear is what resources may be required to implement the feature (e.g., hardware, memory, etc.) or if that would require elimination of some current feature.  Perhaps a response from Leica would help.  Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I agree it’s most unfortunate as there are many applications where it would be beneficial. As a landscape photographer I use focus bracketing daily in my workflow with other cameras.  Leica has everything necessary to make this happen, they just ned to code it into their firmware. As it’s a standard feature on every other companies mirrorless camera it should not be that hard to implement.  Leica has surely a powerful enough processor in camera to allow this and they have plenty of AF lenses.  As the SL3 has been out now for over a year I still hold out hope to see FB added.
