I think you know I am a great admirer of your work and I also know you don't take offense with criticism now and then. With that in mind, I have to say there is a flaw in this otherwise wonderful portrait. The very bright area (window?) next to her head pulls my eyes away from the model and is very distracting. It seems it could easily have been hidden by moving just a bit to your left so as to hide it behind her head. Or, if that would have changed your perspective too much, it could easily be removed in post.

Thanks a lot for your advise Brent. I liked this photo a lot because of her eyes in combination with the blue shirt, but (as you noticed too) the bright area behind her head distracted me as well. During the shooting I did not notice it because very seldom I look at my monitor and i just take a set of photos. At home I tried to darken this bright area as much as possible but I will give it a try again to remove the white area.

Ok Brent @photografr , this is version number 2: and thanks a lot for your hint, I like this version more (although it is not yet perfect)

Brilliant. Much, much better in my opinion.

Hey Benqui,

You know I love your work, especially your work with this particular model. Be that as it may, I'm struggling a bit with this image. I love the blue of her eyes and the blue shirt. Where I'm struggling is that her right eye (left one in the image) and the right side of her face, is sharp as a tack, and because of her fine blonde hair partially covering the left side of her face, it reads to my eyes and blurry and out of focus. If I really study the image I realize it isn't out of focus, but because of the softening effect of her hair, when my eyes first come upon the image, it throws it out of balance for me. I'm sure others may see it differently.

That said, I do want to Thank you for sharing all your wonderful work.

Best, -Tim

Thank you very much Tim taking the time to discuss the photo and like always here in this section, it is a very helpful, interesting and fair discussion. Especially with this photo it seems that many of us see the photo from a different point of view and this is really what showing photos in this forum is about: we can discuss how we interpret the photo. Maybe the blurry effect is also because of my post production where I wanted to achieve a dreamy look with some grain. Have a look at the original version (with the deleted white areas), I think it is more in balance for you.

This is an even better version. It's a bit less bright than the previous re-do.
