lanetomlane Posted January 18 Share #22 Posted January 18 Sorry; Simon and Ravi, but you'll have to put up with us at the AH Art Hotel. We arrive on Tuesday the 7th and leave the following Tuesday. Look forward to catching up with everyone then. Cheers, Tom

Olaf_ZG Posted January 19 Share #24 Posted January 19 Maybe the yearly wine should be exchanged for sangria this time…
andybarton Posted February 8 Author Share #25 Posted February 8 I know that it’s quite early, but I’ve booked a car to take us from and to the airport yesterday. So that’s us all sorted, I think 😊
tom.w.bn Posted February 9 Share #26 Posted February 9 You are really early birds. For Nice I booked the plane 4 months ahead and the room 1 week ahead. Let's see if I'm a bit more organised this time.
andybarton Posted February 9 Author Share #27 Posted February 9 Advertisement (gone after registration) Personally, I like to have everything in place a long time in advance. All the booking information goes into the TripIt app and I like to see the number of days clicking down through the year. Unlike many people, I could never book a holiday “last minute”.
Sandokan Posted February 11 Share #28 Posted February 11 I checked out that bus is €5, a taxi is between €20-30, a booked car service is more. For 2-3 people a taxi makes sense for convenience. I may just take the bus and enjoy the 5min walk from bus stop. However, I remember one trip to Venice where I decided to take the bus from the airport and the water taxi from the station to my destination (San Servolo). It took almost 3 hours, so on the return I took a water taxi; expensive but easier and faster.
andybarton Posted February 11 Author Share #29 Posted February 11 We always use the Alilaguna from Venice Airport. The water taxis are very smart but at well over 100€, the price of a dinner.
octo Posted February 16 Share #30 Posted February 16 Well, unless something happens, I will miss the Palma Challenge: I am booked for a three weeks tour in China with the National Ballet of Madrid. but until I hold the plane tickets, I won't hold my breath... Couldn't the National Ballet of Madrid move its dates, Philippe? 😇 (If you don't manage to make it to Palma I shall imagine you Grand Jeté-ing and Arabesque-ing across the stage. ) Pete.
Olaf_ZG Posted February 16 Share #32 Posted February 16 @andybartonlet me know when you book the restaurant, so I can arrange the wine 🍷. Saving up already 😎

This is getting beyond a joke ... I rarely let a person buy me more than 2 drinks before I return the favour. Either you turn up, or you dont buy the wine.
viramati Posted March 25 Share #34 Posted March 25 (edited) You never know I may make this as I'm in Mallorca at the moment and my brother has a house above Palma so if it's free and I'm not otherwise engaged could be fun. andybarton Posted June 8 Author Share #36 Posted June 8 Just a little bump to remind everyone of this year's event. I looked at the hotel we are staying in yesterday and noted that the cost of a room is now £300 more than it was when I booked before Christmas. Booking.com only have one room left there, so it definitely pays to book early. There are people working on finding the locations for the lunch and dinner, but if anyone has local knowledge of Palma and can recommend cafes or restaurants that might take a party of around 30 on a Saturday lunchtime or evening, all contributions will be gratefully received. Many thanks!
Sandokan Posted June 18 Share #37 Posted June 18 i had one recommendation so far but we can call and negotiate https://sacranca.com/
andybarton Posted June 18 Author Share #38 Posted June 18 Thanks Ravi. If you’re not a great fan of shellfish seafood, (🙋♂️), I think going to be very difficult. I will probably turn vegetarian for the weekend. I have asked a couple of AI things, including the one on WhatsApp, but even they struggle in the city itself.
andybarton Posted June 18 Author Share #39 Posted June 18 People may think that this discussion is a bit premature, but I have found that good places in Palma get booked months in advance, especially for group bookings.
Sandokan Posted June 19 Share #40 Posted June 19 I think most places will offer a choice between fish chicken and a red meat as well as vegetarian. for those who voted for Palma, do you have any recommendations? 1
