Bought a bag of rubber o-rings on amazon for £5, outside diameter 60mm, inside diameter 55mm. Put one onto the Q3-43 hood thread and both the Q3-28 hood and Haoge square hood fit perfectly, easy to align and they don't slip around.  If you get them with an inner diameter of 60mm that would probably been an even better fit.

This is a solution shared with the online community in my country.

The total diameter of the attached filter is 40 mm. It's also affordable.
Anyway, a 40mm attachable filter can be attached to the inner rim of the lens.
The diameter of the attachable filter is very slightly larger, making it easy to remove it later.

I’ve been looking for something similar to get rid of my tape-on-threads hack. Do you have a link to the Amazon listing?

Here it is https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CRZ5MMYK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I've since ordered the slightly larger version 66OD / 60ID to see if they work even better, should arrive tomorrow.

I use my old ventilated hood from my Q and a 49mm Breakthrough Photography UV filter.

The cheapest lens hood they have is 60€, plus 13€ shipping. Pure madness.

I got the ventilated Haoge hood for 34€, shipping included. Less than half the price.

So you pay almost 7000€ for the camera and 60€ is too much? I don’t understand that.

It will look much better and better protect against hits than your round hood.

So a lot of benefit.

For me the camera is a tool, not a piece of jewellery, and I don't really care about the look. I appreciate that some people do, though, and it's fine, but not for me, and certainly not worth an overpriced 73€ for a machined piece of metal.

I have the round hood here with me, the length is the same as the square hood, so protection level is the same. The square hood may protect more from rain and other elements though, but it's never been a problem on my M and L mount lenses, so not sure why it should be a problem now.

FYI, you can find metal square hoods for the Q3 28mm from Haoge for 45€, shipping included. They are well made. I'm sure they'll make one for the 43mm version soon enough, so not sure why I should spend an extra 28€ for the same thing.

Yes, they do but there is no reason for a hood for the Q to be vented unless I am missing something.

Agree. On a Q the vents are not particularly useful, but if you look at pictures of this hood that are not from the front, it’s about 1cm in length, I think it offers more protection than the average petal shaped hood that is so common for mirrorless lenses.
At least for my use case, it comes with the additional benefit of being able to use a pinch cap, that I prefer to Leica’s push-style cap - I remember the Q2 lens cap to be kind of loose and easy to drop.
