and life begins...

I used manual focus to shoot through the screen and focus on the Monarch butterfly.  The screen was several inches closer, and the camera would have focused on it if I used auto-focus.

Q3 43.  First two captures were with the lens set to Macro.

The last image shows the tag.  The Monarchs are tagged and weighed before they are set free.

Got to get CLOSER with that 28mm.  If it gets too hot, spray it.  It is weather sealed.

My Q3 43 is so small and light that I almost always carry it with me.  That way when I spot something I can move quickly and capture it.  Sometimes coming back with a camera a little later is too late.

I was meeting a buddy for a coffee and while we were waiting for the shop to open, I noticed the lovely sunlight on the wall behind my pal.  I quickly pulled out the Q and snapped two shots—a close-up and then moved back a bit for a medium shot.  My camera is normally set to black & white, and it worked well for these captures.

1/125 sec.  f5.6

Needless to say, when we were leaving, the sunlight pattern on the wall was non-existent.

My wife and I have a tradition for more than 45 years.  During her career as a high school teacher, we would celebrate the end of summer with a "farewell to summer" dinner at the same seafood restaurant on the pier in San Clemente, CA.  She has been retired since  2019, but we have continued the tradition.

The last ride of the day taken with my Q3 43.

Nice photo.  Is the restaurant tight on the pier?  I don’t live too far away.
