Hopefully in a P or Reporter version of the camera. Eliminating another possible point of failure (SD card)

I have had too many devices in my life where the internal non-replaceable memory was damaged. I'd rather have an SD card that I can replace if it's faulty.

love the camera but a few point I don't like so much

- the greyish color

- no internal memory (128 or even 256)

- the door for usb-c / HDMI seems very fragile , I don't like to open it

- it seem that there is no possibility to block the focus point at the center

Of the four points I agree with the impossibility to lock the focus point, I sometimes accidentally move the focus point (in both Q3 versions). How durable the flap to the ports is, will have to be seen. I put my Q3 through heavy use in the year I had it and it shows no sign of wear (knock on wood!).

The other points couldn’t bother me.  When I take pictures, I look through the finder mainly, so I don’t see the color of my cameras - but I don’t care too much about the colors of my cars, too. :-). And the real benefit of internal memory is not clear to me yet.

I'd like to import same user profiles from the Q3 to my Q3 43, but when I try to import from the Q3, it repeatedly says import failed.

Any ideas why this won't work? (Is it because card formatted for each camera and is not compatible)?

That really annoyed me a lot too.  But the solution is simple:

  1. Export your profiles from the Q3 28 to your SD.
  2. Open this ICS-File on your computer with a text editor (without any formats or templates).
  3. Add the string " 43" (don't forget the blank!) in the first line right behind the "Q3.
  4. Insert in your Q 3 43 and import.

Good luck!

I agree in terms of the internal memory. I like it in my M just as a backup since I had once the experience of lost photos due a corrupt SD card

And I would add the hood in combination with filter:

  • The hood is too short to be combined with some filters like CPL.
  • The alternative (at extra charge) – the ventilated hood  - is too short for the focal length as well as a good lens protection.

This is not a masterpiece of form and function in design.

I do not know whether Q3-s have code to check  that manually created profile files are correct or whether they can corrupt the internal state of the camera. Heck, we could unlock hidden functionalities 😄.

Anyway, I think it is safer to go through the menu of Q3 and change the entries of Q3 43 accordingly. There are not that many menu entries.

Of course do what lets you sleep at night!

Since I use these profiles in order to forget the details of them afterwards it saved me a lot of timeI it would have taken with both cameras side by side on my knees...

And still I have a Q3 43 that takes correctly exposed photos and most important – no smoke coming out. 😉

Seriously – I think in probabilities –  it's very unlikely a simple text edited file could damage some deeply assembled firmware programming

A simple text file or any other data can damage hardware without proper safeguards. However, I do not think that Leica was that negligent. I am more worried that Q3 43 is brought into an unexpected state by reading a Q3 "settings.lcs." Frankly, I believe there is little chance for that to happen, but still. When someone has unique issues with Q3 43, my first question would be whether the member used Q3's "settings.lcs."

I see your point. My point is probability and trust in what Leica does. I think they don't have any notion to implement some dangerous elements. They just forgot this. I guess next firmware we will see the change.

There might occur some irritation, if there are not the same Leica film looks are implemented in each of them. I had the film "eternal" in every setting even though my profiles have been different. Maybe they just wanted to avoid this irritation for the user.

I haven't found any other issue.

I'm considering the Q3 43 alongside my Q3, the meter is currently 'not likely'.

My (infrequent wedding) combo is 28mm (Q3) + 50mm (1.2GM on the Sony A1)

I'm keeping an eye out on examples, to see if I think I could combo the 43mm instead .. mid sentence thought, I have the Hasselblad X2D with 38/55/80 - the 55 is 43mm equivalent, the AF is not going work quite as well for the same type of photos, but at least I have an idea of how the combo might feel.

I get what you are saying here with the x2d and 55.  The first thing I noticed at a social event regarding the q43 is they are not threatened when I point it at them.  You know, the pull away?  That is interesting.  The party goers think that it is a toy compared to the SL - and I get those silly responses instead.

The new Hasseblad X2D has 1tb of internal memory

As for the color a pink camera with green dots would not bother you at all ?

Wow, interesting news about a Hasselblad camera 😉 What exactly is the benefit of internal memory? Given the deterioration of flash memory I think it might be corrupted faster than other parts of the internal electronics. This is why I think SD cards are the better choice in a long term.

And yes, if the camera specs are right, I would even consider the colors you suggested, @cirke. Might be a good conversation starter to break the ice while taking pictures of strangers.
