Advertisement Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Hi LUF Admin, Take a look here Long awaited: Leica Q3 43 with APO-Summicron 43mm f/2 ASPH.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
S Maclean Posted September 26, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2024 I can't Imagine a more perfect setup. If I didn’t have the sl3 this would be the one to get for me. Hell, considering the lens is an APO the form factor is superior to the sl3 plus 50 APO. I have the hasselblad 55v, which more or less is equivalent to 43 and it is a great Focal length for pretty much everything. I got the q2 for my wife but she didn’t use it and I don’t really like 28mm so i sold it and am on the list for a d8 for her, Had it been this version I would have kept it.
Popular Post farnz Posted September 26, 2024 Popular Post Share #3 Posted September 26, 2024 When the Q first came out I said that if it had had a 50 mm lens I would have bought it. I've just ordered the Q3 43 and have been told it will be with me tomorrow. 🙂 Pete. 25 4
Tjazz Posted September 26, 2024 Share #4 Posted September 26, 2024 So here we are again. I’ve got my Q3 and have been on the Miami waiting list for the SL3 since ten minutes after its release in March. Yes the 43 might be a bit more useful than the 28 but to attempt a trade of the Q3 to the now nearly $7000US Q3-43, I would take a substantial financial loss. For what? Honestly mostly the endorphins involved. The Q3 is amazing and I get what the 43 offers if I take a few steps forward. As to the interminable SL3 wait, I’m producing great pictures with my SL2-S. I have to step off the Leica buy-trade depreciation train. 4 1
steamboat Posted September 26, 2024 Share #5 Posted September 26, 2024 Cute little camera. ‘Not for me. I’ve used M cameras since 1966. I have seven and they’re all pretty worn. Just not sure the Q is for me. With the Q3 43 I might be interested but not without the Summilux lens. Again - cute camera - I certainly hope it does well. Apologies for semi-rant. 2
farnz Posted September 26, 2024 Share #6 Posted September 26, 2024 My Q3 43 will happily work alongside my M3, M10, SL2-S and IIIg. In truth, it will probably take over from my Digilux 2, which will be retired. Pete.

KenTanaka Posted September 26, 2024 Share #9 Posted September 26, 2024 I expect this to be a very well-used companion for years. 40mm-ish has been my favored focal length for a long time. Can't wait to get mine Monday.

duoenboge Posted September 26, 2024 Share #11 Posted September 26, 2024 I think it's great that Leica is presenting a ~40mm lens in such a great frame. I believe, and I hope for Leica, that it will be a great success. It's actually a camera that many people have wanted, but a little different and suprising, just like Leica. jcraf Posted September 26, 2024 Share #12 Posted September 26, 2024 Ordered mine from my friends at RDC in London today. It will be with me after the weekend. This will be my latest in a long line of Q models….but I’m looking forward very much to the 43mm shooting experience. Oddly I love the whole Q concept but never quite bonded with the 28. I’ve shot with a few 40s over the years and I like this focal length a lot.
liggy Posted September 26, 2024 Share #13 Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) I would have chosen the 43 given a choice but won’t be adding it to the Q2. I’ve become really fond of shooting the Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 on my Sonys. Congrats to all getting one - I’m sure it’ll be an excellent camera. Leica Filmmatic Posted September 26, 2024 Share #14 Posted September 26, 2024 Just picked it up today from the Leica store, I will say this it looks better in person. Also the lens is the same size as the regular Q3 the lens hood however is a little larger.
SanDiegoMike Posted September 26, 2024 Share #15 Posted September 26, 2024 In a way, the Q3 43 naming of the new camera is unfortunate. I have already encountered a search engine that interprets the name as a new Micro 4/3 camera offering from Leica! Maybe that's appropriate given the relationship that Leica has with Panasonic. With the very conservative lens specifications, the high price and the dubious linkage to the human eye, Leica has introduced a new cash cow. I think I'll stick with my Q2, MP, IIIg and M10. Had this been a Q zoom with even a modest zoom range I would have been first in line to order one, but I guess I'll have to rely on Sony to offer that. StyxTravel Posted September 26, 2024 Share #16 Posted September 26, 2024 Can any owner confirm if the battery charger is absent from the 43mm version - it’s listed on the 28mm contents, but not the 43mm? It’s an European law. Mandatory USB-C port in all devices like smartphones, laptops and cameras, and no battery charger to reduce electronic waste footprint. Your laptop or smartphone charger is more than enough to charge your camera. If you need more, then an external battery charger can be purchased 6
