Dr. G Posted September 11, 2024 Share #1  Posted September 11, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had preordered the X100VI when it was launched, more as a curiosity, I received word yesterday that it shipped and I should be getting it next week. I'm also first on the list at two Leica stores for the rumored Q43. I'm not one to flip cameras for a profit, but the difference between trying the X100VI and just leaving it in the box if I choose to sell it would be a few hundred dollars that could go toward the new Q. If it were you, would you even try the X100VI or just sell it? I'm not sure I would even be happy with the functionality/images since I've always used an SL with either the APO Summicron-SL lenses or the Summilux-SL and have owned all the Q iterations (I'm just not a 28mm guy). Someone here posted that they had their hands on it this morning. I also know a couple of people that have early access to models for reviews. They obviously couldn't say anything definitive but from what they did say there is definitely something coming. You might like shooting with it and there are many very good reasons to choose an X100 over a Q

If you have sl system with its lenses, x100vi will not satisfy you in the future and you will buy q series camera eventually. Dont get me wrong, x100vi is great camera (i had x100v) but image quality is not same with your sl system or q series. And i dont like 35mm IMO sell x100vi and if money isnt issue for you, just buy q series camera.

I called around and asked if they had a list yet and two dealers said no so I added my name. Am I prepared to get two? Yes, actually. I have a couple of friends who asked me about it after the rumors started becoming more prevalent and lists were already getting filled. If I get two I will pass one onto them for the same price I got it for. As far as the X100VI goes - yes, I was curious. As mentioned, I don't like 28mm and the 35mm in a small form factor appealed to me. At the time there was no real merit to a Q body with a longer lens coming, so I ordered the Fuji. Seemed like a no lose situation.   Edited September 11, 2024 by Dr. G
tom0511 Posted September 11, 2024 Share #12 Â Posted September 11, 2024 I wouldntopen it. For me, I use the SL(3)+lenses and often bring a ricoh grdIII (either with 28 or 43 equivalent lens) and find the fuji is neither small nor big. Its a in between camera, and I prefer the Ricoh as a really small camer (plus love the colors). I, for my part decided the same about the Q, I dont need one. (But I also own a M system). Olaf_ZG Posted September 11, 2024 Share #16  Posted September 11, 2024 (edited) Me neither wouldn’t have ordered it. The x100 is too small for me (lenswise, for grip), a xpro3 would be a better fit. But won’t buy it either. The Q is a perfect camera, except for the 28mm (for me). So I would take the q43 or nothing. I ordered it because I knew that if I didn't like it after I tried it, I could sell if for exactly what I paid for it or more. Unopened it would be even more than that.  The timeline for this potential new Q just happens to be really close to me finally getting the X100, which is why I'm rethinking even opening the box.

mrlouie Posted September 11, 2024 Share #19  Posted September 11, 2024 I have a Fuji x100VI and a Q3 .. if the new Q3 43? comes out I’ll get one. Yes, the Leica is better quality over Fuji, it should be. Two big advantages Fuji has over Leica is its smaller size / more casual and the jpegs. You can take this thing anywhere no one cares. They usually think you have a film camera. If you shoot jpegs the Fuji has big advantage over Q3 with all the different film simulations & recipes you can do. Last weekend I went to Las Vegas for my Bday. I took the Fuji because it was for fun casual photos when we were out at dinner & bars having fun all shot JPEG. Next month I’m back to Vegas for a big car show. I will bring the Q3 because it’s more serious photos at show & on the street, all shot DNG. Think of Fuji as a high quality fun camera when you don’t want to bring Leica.
Matt Stevens Posted September 12, 2024 Share #20  Posted September 12, 2024 The X100VI is a cool little camera, but it's not going to be on the same ballpark as a Q43. I have a X100V and have shot it a lot, but when I got a Q2M, its been collecting dust.
