There’s no factual information. No clues from Leica.

And when I wrote that, there was no factual information from Leica, and still isn’t. It’s still conjecture and “My Mum knows a guy down the chip shop, swears he’s Elvis and he’s played around with the new Leica.”

Mmmmm...... A BIG clue there. So it's definitely a square sensor!

Personally wouldn’t know if these were from a Leica or an iPhone at this resolution. And you can edit any lens to look like almost any other at this size.

Rumours are true though. Despite what some stubborn folk think. I know a few dealers very well…

Not sure I buy this.  Looks suspiciously fabricated.  Product photos do not look like their typical high-end work (these have harsh lighting and cheap props).

If they are going to produce a medium focal length Q camera, that might explain the rumors that they are not going to produce a Q3M.  Perhaps their next monochrom camera will be a variant of this new camera.

It is not that they don’t want to, it is that Sony doesn’t make a IMX455 image sensor variant that is both monochrome and has phase detect AF pixel masking to enable PDAF.

IMX455AQK is the color sensor without PDAF pixels used in the M11 and M11P.

IMX455BQK is the color sensor with PDAF pixels used in Q3 and SL3.

IMX455ALK is the monochrome sensor without PDAF pixels used in the M11M.

Here are the basic product overviews for the 3 sensors above: https://www.sony-semicon.com/files/62/pdf/p-13_IMX455AQK_BQK_ALK_Flyer.pdf

There isn’t, as far as I know, an “IMX455BLK” that is both monochrome and has PDAF pixels for use in the autofocus cameras.

I also think the production values of this are low. The whole thing looks a little home made.

A dilemma for me. I was set on a 28mm Q3, but if confirmed properly by Leica, this would be fantastic.

I'll obviously need to wait and I don't expect the new version will be available easily until well into 2025. There'll also be the temptation of some lovely second hand 28mm Q3's by owners trading in for the new version.

I'm not sure on the naming though... 'Q3 43" doesn't sound very Leica. Will the existing model be rebranded 'Q3 28' Leica normally use letter suffixes don't they?

I agree, the lens in that image does look quite long - then again, if it reduces distortion and reduces need for baked-in software corrections (which reduces resolution), maybe it's a good thing. From my stance, I'd certainly prefer as good a performing lens as possible, even if slightly larger.
