28mm Elmarit asph V1 or V2

28mm Elmarit asph V1 and V2 are coded the same. Are they the same optically? I know that they are physically different.

It is my understanding that they are, indeed, optically identical.  I have the V1, superb lens.

Sean Reid did an interesting comparo a couple years ago on his subscription site. He found that the Elmarit 28/2.8 asph v2 might be preferable on SL cameras and the opposite on M cameras if i remember well. I kept the v1 of the lens personally, having no experience with SL cameras. V1 works fine on my M11 and M240 but it tends to exhibit softer corners on my Sigma FPL.

Rebought the front cap fitting the hood of v1 several times, because it got lost. In the end I exchanged v1 with v2 two years ago. Problem solved. Optically I didn't notice a difference. Didn't do a comparison though. Used both lenses on M8.2 and M10.
