My metering has gone all over the place since the firmware update; approximately 1 in 10 are massively over exposed no matter what mode of metering I am using!

I started another thread on the occasional overexposure issues I am experiencing

I did not have much use of the camera before I upgraded to 2.1.1 so I don’t  know if the update caused or increased the overexposure issue

I wonder if somehow this update doesn't include the fix of 1.6.1?

How can that be? But it sounds like it

There is. USB-C 3.0. It came new with the SL3. You can buy it separately.

Really? So why don’t current new M11 series bodies have it in the box for heavens sake?! My M11-P was made less than 6 months ago and still came with a USB A to USB C cable.

My guess is that when the M-11 series came out the iPhone still used the lightning connector. When the SL3 came out Apple had moved to the EU standard of USB-C for the iPhone.

Yes I usually use that. However since I’m going on a long trip I was hoping to leave as much behind as possible!

That's a perfect scenario to bring a travel charger. It fits in your pocket is so small. The risk of traveling and plugging my camera directly god knows where is too high.

The little M11 charger is so tiny it can pretty much squeeze into someplace within your luggage/carry-on/gear (even inside an extra pair of extra shoes, etc…). The compact size of the M11 changer is one of those little mentioned advantages that the M11 has over the previous digital M bodies.

When traveling (traveling carry-on only, or for weeks on end) I’ll carry two of those little M11 chargers so that I can plug a couple batteries in overnight and not have to,wake up in the middle of the night to swap and change a second battery (if I used only the  USB-C to charge). If I find another M11 charger for sale on FM, I’d buy a third.

Honestly I’m not sure. The cable did charge the camera and works fine with every other device (iPhone etc) I use it with.

The problem is that there’s no Leica USBC to USBC cable…..

The apple cable for the iPhone on iPad is a good cable choice. It fully supports all things USBC including data not just power. I use it to connect my new iPad Pro to my M11 with FOTOs since the wireless connection doesn’t appear to work with the iPad Pro.

Hello, I have an M11P since a few weeks, I have updated to the FW 2.1.1 the day it went out. Today the camera freezed when it was taken out from sleep by pressing the shutter.

It was impossible to restart it with the ON/OFF, cycling the battery or changing the battery - I unblocked the situation only by taking out the SD card.

The files in the SD card are not corrupted and the card worked fine in my Mac, and also again in my M11P (I have reformatted again in the camera)

Card used SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC 64 GB, after FW upgrade formatted with PC formater then formatted again in M11P, never taken out (transfer of pictures by cable)

Single shot, max resolution, DWG only, SD card only, no live view or EVF, no flash, battery at 80%, Leica Photos active (geolocation) in "performance mode"

As the problem seems to be linked to the SD Card I will shift to internal memory use only, I have also done a full reset and repairing with my iPhone.

I never had this kind of issues with my M9, M9, M9M, M10 nor my SL2, SL2-S or Q2M

I hope that the last bugs will soon be crushed....

PS: just happened again, but this time the camera was off. maybe I pressed the shutter too fast after the ON position ? - the SD card was still inside

Hello, I have updated information - the problem is NOT the SD card.

Today, I tried to use again my M11-P (first time since my lasts posts) and the camera froze again.

The important part is that there was no SD card inside, only internal memory.

L-RAW only, no WIFI Photos (to avoid issues), no credentials, no perspective, single shut etc. the most basic configuration possible.

Cycling the battery did not change anything.

In desperation I changed the lenses (Summilux 28 to Summilux 50) and the camera waked up ?!

Could it be just a coincidence or could it be that mistake during the lenses code reading (lenses not totally well positioned ??) block all ?

Something needs to be done fast about this...it is not manageable as a user.

Note: I never complained about Leica cameras...but this is not acceptable

I’m afraid you’re either hallucinating or according to JDLaing using it for a purpose for which it wasn’t intended. I hope you weren’t trying to take pictures with it rather than pose with it around your neck or cleaning it prior to returning it to an air conditioned cabinet? Shame on you.

I hate to be snarky and I still love the camera but this gas lighting of users with significant issues simply isn’t on. Especially in a thread expressly set up for users to report problems with the new firmware!

Guess I was too optimistic. I have had another "File unreadable" issue. 😢

If that happened with a SD card that was in a Mac, put it back in the Mac and type the following in Terminal:

ls -al /Volumes/"LEICA M"/DCIM/100LEICA

And let us know if there are filenames starting with "._"...

I have checked a bit more in depth. The camera is set to IN = SD. The corrupted file is only on the internal memory, the file is fine on the SD card, which makes lesser sense as the internal drive is the one Leica has full control over and should be better integrated into the system.

Yes that is true. However the M11 series is still being made and still being boxed up yet the cable is still the old one....

I agree, but I am not surprised that Leica does not make a running change on what is in the box of any of the M11 series cameras. It will be interesting to see what is in the M11-D camera. From what I can tell from the quick start guide, it looks like it will be the USB-C to USB-C cable. This will be the first in the M11 series to be released after Apple went to the USB-C on the iPhone.

This isn’t true, wireless works just fine with iPad.

So after praising the new firmware for over 3,000 images, my camera froze today. I also have something I've never had before: images upside down. Yes, I can rotate them in Lightroom, but this is not normal. All I can say is that if you plan to use your M11 for professional work, don't even think about it. Leica has some explaining to do.

I am okay with my m11 cause i use for personal stuff, but for work.... it's unreliable and i dont trust it.

Just because it's frozen once?

Not sure if you've used other brands, but a camera that freezes every 3k images and exhibits unexpected behaviors, such as suddenly displaying your images upside down... yes indeed, because you don't really know what to expect next. It's all about the lack of reliability.
