Custom colours for the Q3

I just saw this on the Leica Store Singapore Instagram page via an article on Leica Rumours. I haven't seen this advertised anywhere else. It sounds like a great idea if you want to be more individual with your Q3.

A few months ago a YouTuber had her M6 modified so the leather would match the color of her car or purse (can't remember exactly).  I believe she had it done in Japan.  To each his own, but I personally wouldn't want to risk damaging (voiding a warranty) the camera for the sake of a color change.  Just my $0.02 worth.

Having it done by Leica is fine, but I agree that using a third party may void any warranty on the camera.  That said, it would have to be proven that a fault is directly associated with a new covering, which is perhaps an unlikely occurrence.

Maybe not a fashion accessory, but I just picked up the SmallRig grip for my Q3 43.  The metal is titanium color and the matrix insert is black. So now I have a multicolored, strange looking setup.  I ordered a protective skin from Alphagvrd that should match the grip and comes with black matrix to cover the grey.  Again, not a fashion statement, but my OCD can take a rest.

A friend of mine just had their Q3 skinned to new Leica custom leather done in-house at Leica store here in the States; I believe some/all of the newer stores have the capabilities to do this in-house (at least the new stores with the repair booths). The process is the Leica store (they have swatches available) will order the leather of your choice from Wetzlar, it takes about a month to arrive, and just a day to install. It’s also only available for digital M and Q’s, not film M bodies.

which Leica store did they have leather replacement done? I’m not warming up to the gray Q43 color, would rather have Leica redo it in black than cover it with a third party grip.

Personalizing your tools (cameras, guitars, etc) does not make them fashion accessories.

The Leica store in NYC Meatpacking, and the Leica Store in Bellevue are both the newer style designed store with the Leica repair booth/room https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9a2YgmSz3z/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

 There might be other Leica owned stores besides these two that can do the work in-house. You might give each a call to see if they can do the leather replacement in-house vs sending it all the way to Germany or NJ.

I like things that look good, feel good and work well.  Aesthetics are part of the enjoyment.  

The livery of the Reporter was the tipping point for me with Leica.  

A great camera that feels/looks/works beautifully and while some may disapprove of it - I could not care less.
