Leica themselves do occasionally seem confused by the Q. The manual, for example, warns the user not to put the rear-lens cap or camera body cap in to a pocket, lest it attract dust that will then be let in to the camera.

There is no rear lens cap for the Q series because the lens is not removable. Likewise, there is no body cap. If Leica have made this warning in the Q manual, they are most definitely confused.

It is a copy-and-paste error. From the Q3 manual:

Never store the camera bayonet cover or the lens back cover in a
pants pocket, as they will attract lint and dust, which could then be accidentally introduced into the camera.

There is no way I would accept a Q3 with oil or dust on the sensor. Those of you accepting this as ok with your new Q3 are nuts. The original Q had this issue with early models, and Leica addressed the issue in production. Please let Leica know this happened to your Q3.

No way I would want Leica taking apart my Q3 to clean the sensor – pulling off all the weather sealing and hoping it all gets sealed back up perfectly. That might be fine for a CLA after four or five years, but not on a new camera.

In my case I didn't accept it. The camera was replaced.

The last time I visited this forum was about 10 years ago I believe, and I am glad I did again as I am just about to pull the trigger on a Q3.

As the OP of this thread, I would highly recommend the Q3. I'm convinced my experience was an aberration and it was quickly dealt with. I still have a Q3 and love it.
