Popular Post photophile Posted May 2, 2024 Popular Post Share #1 Posted May 2, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) While visiting AIPAD in NYC this past weekend, bumped into Louis Mendes. I had seen him last almost 20 years ago. He is a photography treasure and street shooter icon. Taken with a 1954 M3 D/S and a 1973 Cron. Tri-X (expired 1998). "Scanned" with Nikon D500. Still managed to get something to work http://www.focophoto.com http://www.TheTwoFacesofRichard.com Welcome, dear visitor! bdolzani Posted May 2, 2024 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2024 Fantastic. I have a great shot of him too...generous guy in his willingness to be the subject. Did you buy one of his polaroids? I did...
photophile Posted May 2, 2024 Author Share #3 Posted May 2, 2024 BDolzani: Thank you. We spoke a while. He did not offer and I, quite simply forgot to ask him. I still have the one from 20 years ago around here "somewhere". And agree completely, very generous with wisdom, photographic knowledge and willingness to engage.

He did ask me and of course I thought it was a perfect exchange.
Louis Posted May 2, 2024 Share #5 Posted May 2, 2024 A very nice shot. I also took a picture of him few years ago outside B&H photo store. But not being American, I had no idea who he was. I just saw a man with a huge camera and took a quick picture. When I posted the shot, I was told who he was and I googled to learn more about him! 😅
