In case you're not familiar with the term, "light monkey," Ronald Reagan used it to refer to a group of photojournalists who were in the Oval Office to photograph him one day. We've been trying to live it down ever since.

These photos are of Zane Williams, a longtime close friend and superb photographer who was my main competition here until we both retired. In 1992, he was preparing to publish one of several books he did throughout his career and he asked me to do some photos for the jacket. These are from that shoot. A few years ago he sold his house to Pete Souza, the widely acclaimed White House photographer who had unlimited access to Barack Obama through his 8 year term as President. It was a completely refurbished 150 year old one-time farm house that was in the original settlement district of Madison. Pete sold it a few months ago and has moved on to another city.

In the second photo, you might notice that I committed one the Cardinal Sins for Photographers. My camera bag is visible in the bottom, right corner.

Wonderful pictures, and by providing the background information they get a whole level more of worth. It is a pleasure to see this kind of documentary photography here. Thank you very much for sharing!

+1. Always nice discoveries.

If you would not have told us, I most likely would not have noticed that Cardinal Sin. In any case, it certainly does not detract from the photo's main subject.
