M9M sensor concerns in hot weather countries

I am planning to live in Asia for coming year, my M9M had the sensor replaced in the early stage of replacement.  Should I not bring it those hot and humid weather places in order to keep the longevity of the sensor?

Any M9, M9M owners in Asia, can share your experience?

I’ve own an M9M and an ME and also live in Miami, which is a fairly hot and humid climate. I’ve never had an issue with this, at least not in my experience.

Both my M9's in Sydney Australia got sensor corrosion quite early on. However, I think all M9's with the original sensors will get corrosion eventually, maybe humidity speeds it up somewhat. You could invest in a dehumidifying cabinet.

The replaced non-corroding sensors should not be an issue as far as I know.

If you have one of the replacement sensors with the new cover glass you should be fine.  When my M9M sensor developed corrosion I had to wait until the new sensors were available before sending it in.  Initial replacements were with the original sensor.  I believe the camera service menu lists a code which identifies which sensor is present.  I don't know how to bring up that menu, but possibly another member can help.

How early was "early"? Leica issued an announcement in June '15 which stated that a new sensor (actually the cover glass) had been developed and was being Beta-Tested. At that time, however, they were still replacing corroded units with the original type. As such (AFAIK) those cameras whose sensors were replaced prior to circa August 2015 received the original type but those which came after that time got the new one.

There has never been a (verified) report of the v2 becoming corroded.

Yes; there is! The well-known 'M9 Button-Dance'!...

Power the camera on and then follow these instructions.

Push the Delete button (don't worry that you can't see anything on the screen yet!) then press Up (2x); Down (4x); Left (3x) Right (3x) then Info. There should now be a menu display with several options. Scroll down to 'Hardware IDs' then press 'Set'. You should have a list of CCD numbers such as;

CCD ID : 53

CCD Board ID : 52

Control Brd ID : 52

M16C ID : 0

From what I have read the replacement v2 sensor CCD ID numbering started at CCD ID 15. Anything lower would indicate a v1 sensor.

I believe my sensor was replaced in 2012/13, ID 12, or 13.  I will double check.  So for sure is V1.  Thanks for information.
