Popular Post jimofnyc Posted March 31, 2024 Popular Post Share #1 Posted March 31, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) My good friend Ben Lieberman has left this world. Through him I learned a lot about life and photography. He was one of the few people I met through the Leica User Forum that also lived within a few miles of me in Manhattan. We would often go out shooting together in places like Little Italy, China Town or Harlem. This picture was taken in 2015 and two years later Ben confided that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. We would still go out shooting, but Ben had increasing difficulty with working his cameras. His last two years were spent at home. He often sat on his balcony with the small vegetable garden his wife Lynn had grown. I will miss him. Welcome, dear visitor! andybarton Posted April 1, 2024 Share #5 Posted April 1, 2024 I too am sorry to hear this. We met Ben, and you, with Stuart and Barbara, on our first visit to New York in 2012 and enjoyed the view from the top of the Empire State as day turned to night and a good dinner in a restaurant below. An unforgettable day. RIP Ben.
Timmyjoe Posted April 1, 2024 Share #6 Posted April 1, 2024 So sorry to hear this. Ben was a real gentleman and incredibly generous in sharing his knowledge. Had quite a few discussions with him about using the exact set up in your picture JimofNYC, the Leica R lenses on the Nikon DSLR bodies. He will be missed. RIP Sir. StS Posted April 1, 2024 Share #7 Posted April 1, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I met Ben in 2009, I remember he asked me how I liked the city. When I listed the museums and concert halls I had visited so far, he suggested to spend more time on the streets to actually experience the city and its people. Which I did then. This could have had some permanent impact on my travel style. May he rest in peace Stefan

farnz Posted April 9, 2024 Share #10 Posted April 9, 2024 I, too, had many pleasant and informative discussions with Ben here over the years and it was a regret that I didn't get to meet him in person when I visited New York. So sad to hear of his Alzheimers that must have robbed him of wonderful memories, time, and quality of life. May you rest in peace, Ben. Pete.
