RMF Posted March 2 Share #25 Posted March 2 I use the Squarehood version on my 35 cron v4; it mounts solidly and made of aluminum, nice streamline fit without any protruding push clips (such as on the #12524). I don’t really like the lens cap that comes with it so on rare occasions when I use a lens cap (such as during travel) I throw on the Match Technical rubber cap. Some might balk at the price of the Squarehood as you can get less expensive alternatives, but the Squarehood stays put, solidly constructed, and better befits a the v4 German vs the plastic #12524. I like the Squaredhood one, what looks kinda weird though is how far "out" the filter looks when screwed into the "base" of the Squarehood. Makes the camera look a bit strange from the front I think, as if the filter is hovering way above the lens, in a way.. Welcome, dear visitor! I only see them for 200 or more (I'm not in the states, but even including eBay items from the US it's 200+ for ones in good condition.. nuts!) Ecar Posted March 5 Share #28 Posted March 5 Different aesthetics: anyone tried one of these? https://shop.tahusa.co/products/square-lens-hood-set-for-leica-35mm-type-2?_pos=26&_fid=a0bfc7b08&_ss=c
gammarART Posted March 5 Share #29 Posted March 5 +1 for tahusa's shop. Bought there a squarehood for my 40mm 1.2 and it comes within 12 days (Germany). Great build quality.

It kinda looks like it in your picture.. ..or is it a regular (E39 size) filter, that screws directly into the lens, and the 12526 hood clips "around it"? Thanks! Hey bud, sorry I didn't see your question until now. That was just a E39 B+W Ti filter screwed into the lens and with the hood clips around it. Worked perfectly!
otto.f Posted May 21 Share #32 Posted May 21 I own the "KOB" because of its size with the original plastic hood. Otherwise I would have bought the CV 35 Ultron ii which is a bit better optically. But for street photography I sometimes prefer to walk around with the smallest possible set.
username Posted May 21 Share #33 Posted May 21 Thanks @gaheris ! Bought the 12524 in the meantime, and really like it (would have love a 12526 with the black tabs like yours, alas I couldn't find one)- I think it's nice that you can remove and reattach it swiftly (I use filters quite regularly), and the "clip mechanism" feels very sturdy. The hood mounts nice (and straight) on the lens (German version, for what it's worth), absolutely no complaints 👍
