Q3 with Canon Speedlite 430EX II

Has anyone reading this actually had experience of using a Canon Speedlite 430EX II with the Q3? I have read as much as I can here and elsewhere; but have not been able to get a definite answer to the question: "Can this combination do damage to the Q3".

Please let me know of your experience if you have done this experiment!

What damage could it possibly do?

If you are a belt and braces type use a Wein trigger

I have used that combination on my Q2 and Q3, only in Manual modes.  No TTL or HSS.  I used the flash sparingly and finally invested in a Leica SF 60 and SC1 Trigger combo, which makes the whole operation seamless.

That is correct. Non-Leica flashes will only work in A mode.
