cbretteville Posted September 28, 2012 Share #201 Â Posted September 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) That sounds like sensor failure. I beleive they still make good on the promise to replace it (provided they still have sensors). I would email Leica Customer Service and ask: Leica Customer Service <cs@leica-camera.com> Â Good luck! Ernstk Posted October 11, 2012 Share #203 Â Posted October 11, 2012 I can confirm that Leica Solms are still replacing the sensors as warranty work, for cameras with serial number below 3000xxx. Â My Digilux 2 is there now, having the work done. Â I have to say that I'm tremendously impressed with the quality of Leica's customer service and their excellent communications. I've been dealing with XX and she's been exceptionally helpful, even sending a UPS shipping label for free shipment to Solms. Â Ernst
Rich5ltr Posted April 12, 2013 Share #204 Â Posted April 12, 2013 Hi Ernst, I have just bought a Digilux 2 with seriel number 2991xxx - It is in very good condition and works perfectly. Do you think I should send my camera for the replacement or leave alone because it's working? Â Thanks Rich...
MPerson Posted April 12, 2013 Share #205 Â Posted April 12, 2013 I think Leica will only replace the sensor if it fails. Just enjoy using it.

Buddydog Posted July 19, 2013 Share #207 Â Posted July 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you to everyone for the wonderful and informative information on the Digilux 2. Â I'm looking forward to purchasing my first Digilux 2 but wondering if anyone with a replacement sensor had any additional failure? Â I've reached out to Leica and they are still replacing the sensor free of charge the original unit hasn't been replaced. Once Leica has replaced the original sensor, the future issue is at the consumer's cost. Â Any feedbacks from the replaced sensor owners?
Ernstk Posted July 19, 2013 Share #208 Â Posted July 19, 2013 9 months after replacement, my new sensor is still fine. Â Ernst
farnz Posted July 19, 2013 Share #209 Â Posted July 19, 2013 ... but wondering if anyone with a replacement sensor had any additional failure? ... The sensor on one of my Digilux 2's was replaced before I bought it and I've had no problems during the 3 years of owning it. The new sensors would be unlikely to fail in the same way because they're free of the flaw that Sony identified in the ones that did fail. Â Pete. williamgm Posted January 31, 2014 Share #212 Â Posted January 31, 2014 I think they now charge for the labour involved but supply the new sensor part at no cost. I seem to recall a figure of Euro 200 being mentioned somewhere in an earlier post.

corson Posted April 30, 2016 Share #218 Â Posted April 30, 2016 It was a sensor for a Sony F717 camera which I had to de-solder 24 pins and then solder onto the Leica PCB.The pin spacing is 0.5mm and it's a very difficult (for me) task.I am just so pleased that we don't have to throw our cameras away.
