I will hope for an SL 135 f 2 apo

i don’t think Leica will make an SL 180 f 2 due to cost / low likely sales although I would love one.

i don’t think they will make an SL 180 f 2.8 apo because it is too close to the 90-280

good question from OP in my opinion. Would be nice to get a little more (or at least a little) communication from Leica about the future of the SL system.

We know what happened to R, CL, and mirror reflex S, ...a roadmap of Leica plans for the SL would help me to decide if I might upgrade to the SL3 or not.

I would really like a tier one quality Tilt-Shift lens, something around 28-35mm length.

I’m surprised it doesn’t exist in L mount. Canon and Nikon did T/S for full frame, Fuji has done them for GFX etc.

I'm an optimist, and I think the 24mm APO will show up. Not sure when, although, I might be dead by then. In the meantime, get ready for a Sigma 70-200mm clone... That's my rumour 😆

I would be nice but for such a niche product it's highly unlikely...

I do have the Canon 17mm TS and with adaptor it works quite well on my SL2 for wide architectural shots, however have not used any of the longer length TS lenses.

They did provide a 120mm T/S lens for the S system, which was far more niche, but that was based on an existing Schneider design I believe (as were their earlier tilt shift lenses for the R system). I think they would find a market for one, but I think it is probably quite difficult to engineer to Leica quality. Not only do you have to design a lens that can stand up to 100+ mp with a large image circle and no problematic color aberrations, you also need to build an intricate gearing system for it to shift it all around. Honestly, it is probably a better candidate for Sigma, as they could market it across all the bodies they sell lenses for, and the engineering costs would likely be lower. They have proven to be able to design super wide angles, so I think optically they are up to the challenge.

The EF 50 & 90mm are something special. Much better...

Rumours aside, they had a roadmap some years back, which they abandoned.

A macro is coming. A inner-circle representative hinted it would be based on Sigma 105, not the Panasonic 100. Whether Sigma, Panasonic or someone else, time will tell. But a macro will come.

Beyond the 21 APO that was released a few months ago, there doesn't seem to be a commitment to other comparable quality lenses beyond Sigma remakes.

Perhaps the lack of commitment to new in-house designs is due to sales not meeting expectations for the APO line. 
Rebadges on the other hand are cheaper to make, just slap an existing lens in a different case and you’re good to go.

Due to COVID the roadmap was delayed but mainly complèted with high value APO and VARIO lenses. 

what we need more? Of course an 100mm Macro. And then non APO less expensive products for every day use.

I’d like a 24-75 apo zoom, 24-90 is nice but the 90-280 is just a couple steps above.

SiggiGun,   I totally agree with you.   It appears there are those wanting more, more, more...to what end?   We have the most excellent native SL lenses, minus 1 lens...Apo 24 that may or may not ever arrive. (And...so what if doesn't, just zoom with your feet or buy a SL zoom, or a used 24 Elmar) Then we have the all the M lenses that work superbly on all SL cameras and least we forget the great R lenses too.  Plus the L alliance lenses...  I can't understand why the wanting for more lenses.  Perhaps going out with a couple of lenses, master them fully and try creating masterpiece photographs with excellent content that causes the viewer to; Stop, Look, Think and if possible Feel something about that moment in time...would be far more useful and rewarding for the photographer...but I must be mistaken.   r/ Mark
