M8 spots on sensor…

I’m very fortunate in that I’ve recently been lent a Leica M8 from a friend who is a professional photographer - my first foray into the Kingdom after many years of photography with other cameras both film and digital.

This Leica has, quite simply, blown me away. It has taken me back to my Minolta 35mm days in the 1960s and then some.

It has come with a Voigtländer Nokton Classic 40/1.4 and as I predominately shoot in black and white it’s a combo that works comparatively well - plus when needed I love the Tri-X preset in Silver Efex 2

There are two ‘issues’ with this immaculate M8, with 9,000 actuations btw, one is that beyond f/5.6 there are a series of noticeable spots in a image when shooting at a clear sky. Is this something that’s common and can it be fixed with a sensor clean?

The second is the rear wheel, I don’t understand its function and it doesn’t want to move in any event.

Very pleased to be here✌️Markie
