If you are happy processing your images in CR1 or Lightroom you probably have no need of Leica Looks - you’re simply already doing this in those programs using RAW as your start point. If you only shoot jpg then they likely have some value in saving you time by doing the work for you.

Any store employee is likely to have been “encouraged” to use Looks whether they want to or not.

Fuji has the Film Simulations and those are pretty popular. Leica has tried to implement something similar, at a very small scale for the moment, but they could extend the looks any time. Right now, being only a Q3 feature, they are neither very wide spread nor very popular with the typical Leica user. So what? Use it or leave the setting untouched.

In Japan one can buy a Leitz phone camera. Japan only. It touts the "Leica Look." Three lens. I couldn't find the price. 🙂

"one big advancement is the addition of “Leitz Looks,” or camera sensor modes, which simulate three high-end Leica lenses: Noctilux 50mm, Summilux 35mm and Summilux 28mm."
