everbong Posted December 8, 2023 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got my Q3 today and noticed the Leica red dot is misaligned and not level by a small but noticeable amount. I know these are hand assembled, but for a $9k CAD camera, you’d think there would be a bit better attention to detail. Anyone else have this cosmetic issue on their Q3? Advertisement Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Hi everbong, Take a look here New Leica Q3. Am I being nitpicky?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted December 8, 2023 Share #2 Posted December 8, 2023 Just try to rotate it a bit by your thumb. No you are not nitpicking; it would annoy me as well.

Some people would pay extra for that — like a postage stamp with a fault! Seriously, my red dot is level, but I hadnt even looked at it before reading your complaint. I am sure Leica will fix this if you complain. David
Siriusone59 Posted December 8, 2023 Share #5 Posted December 8, 2023 Yes it is glued but unless Leica has changed their methods, the glue is not hard setting. Think rubber cement type of adhesive. Warming it a bit with your thumb, provided your hands aren't cold, you should be able to rotate it slightly as @jaapv suggested. I did the same on a Q that I purchased some time back.

Normally using a flexible adhesive.Unless the Q3 is different you can remove them and stick them back on multiple times.
everbong Posted December 8, 2023 Author Share #8 Posted December 8, 2023 This is a terrible photo but I had to box it back up as it’s a present for my partner. jaapv Posted December 9, 2023 Share #13 Posted December 9, 2023 I just checked. All red dots I could find right now had a tilt upwards, varying from nearly invisible to SrMi’s pronounced one. R8, X2, SL, CL, etc.. Not one tilted to the left and the only one straight is my M6, which has a black dot which I put on myself.
DQ03 Posted December 9, 2023 Share #14 Posted December 9, 2023 I just checked my Q and Q3, both have tilted “Leica” dots, but the one on Q3 is more pronounced, like SrMi’s. Maybe that’s the way it is supposed to be?
SrMi Posted December 9, 2023 Share #15 Posted December 9, 2023 I think a slightly tilted log is just proof that humans assembled the camera and not machines :).

jps1 Posted December 9, 2023 Share #18 Posted December 9, 2023 Il y a 6 heures, SrMi a dit : Je pense qu'une bûche légèrement inclinée n'est que la preuve que les humains ont assemblé la caméra et non les machines :). This shows that each Q3 is personalized. It's better not to change anything.
LocalHero1953 Posted December 9, 2023 Share #19 Posted December 9, 2023 (edited) My Q2 Reporter doesn't have a red dot, nor does my MP or M4. My SL2-S does and...... ....... drum roll. ..... it looks exactly the same as the OP's*. This is the biggest scandal to hit Leica in a century. *Edit. Am I allowed to be nitpicky back? That is a terrible photo of the red dot, both in image quality and as evidence that there is anything wrong at all. jaapv Posted December 9, 2023 Share #20 Posted December 9, 2023 I think that Leica should do a general recall on all their cameras to check and correct the Red Dots. Come to think of it, on all their dotted accessories as well.
